Its interesting that non Mac owners aren't aware of thorney and think there is no indy support whereas Mac owners DO know about thorney. These "secrets" perpetuate the myth that Macs are expensive to maintain when they're actually not
But isn't that the issue? I personally find it sad that Thorney has to exist in order to make a McLaren an affordable option. If the factory did a better job of it, perhaps more people may be tempted to try the product.

Great stuff. A PPI for £200? No excuse not to!

You really think that so many of us would have owned or own a Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo if we only had main dealers to go to?

+1 having a reputable specialist network makes huge sense for the slightly older car owners who would prefer not to use the main dealer network as well as reliving pressure on the dealerships. It does seem blindingly obvious, I’m not entirely sure why McLaren seem reluctant at the moment to support this with access to their diagnostic info

But Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo make it much easier for indies to set up, allowing access to software etc. McLaren stopped the gearbox firm from supplying Thorney IIRC. Not helpful.

Why would Mclaren and the gearbox manufacture not allow spare parts to be made available? Now these cars are getting on in age they will need to be repaired from time to time?

Strangling the supply of spare parts just doesn’t make sense for the brand or future owners?

I think McLaren are now getting the message that Independents need to be part of the ecosystem.

Hopefully they will demonstrate this.

No Indys is fine when all your cars are very new, but is not a viable situation with the current age of 12C etc now.
