Talking about McLaren Manchester, this comes close to all the other stories I heard about McLaren Ownership:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7qpUqwLS9o

What an absolute embarrassment and disaster.

It does appear poor.

On the other hand, what makes somebody like you dig out two threads - both at least a year old - to make that point? And they appear to be your only two posts.

You need a hobby.

Well what a nice way to welcome a new member to the forum. Haven't had the time in the past to register, now christmas break. Besides that I heard and read things about nice people just like you being active on this forum and thought I have better things to do than mess with individuals like you. Well now I'm here, get on with it.

If you are genuinely interested in a McLaren I can recommend both Glasgow and Hatfield.

Fully agree with the last bit. Would have walked away before signing that absurd document. Mac Manchester was my first option, but luckily for me I ended up buying one further north.

But my story of McLaren ownership from another Mac dealer is that it is the absolute best dealer experience of the many cars that I have bought. The car itself is amazing, and the dealer has been just as good.

This is the problem - this is one video. You don’t see videos from the hundreds/thousands of owners with a positive ownership experience.

McLaren Glasgow are fantastic to deal with...Lee runs a tight ship there and they have bent over backwards for any issues i have had.

I am guessing that's how they normally operate and must be the reason they have been awarded Mac dealer of the year multiple times.

It is funny how it has all of a sudden become Mac bashing season again...

Since a poster has raised the video in 3 separate threads, I may as well reply here too.

It's simply a st dealer, and by the sounds of it the worst one in the McLaren network.

My own experience at McLaren Hatfield has been exceptional. And my 720S has been 100% trouble/glitch/problem free. McLaren HQ at Woking have been fantastic to deal with too.

(I've heard good things about McLaren Glasgow too.)

So pick your dealer carefully smile

Surely i cannot be deluded...

A youtuber guy posts a 40 minute clip about a 5 minute story and 3, or is it 4, threads appear all about the same video having a go about McLaren as a whole just because one dealer has a howler...

Sometimes things do go wrong, as with all dealers of all marques, however, for a balanced view, i like to read posts from actual owners and their actual experiences.

Crazy...i know.

I'm normally super-defensive of McLaren, but I find it hard to defend this one. Admittedly, the multiple posts, resurrecting older posts, smells like the OP and his friends may be building a case for rejection – evidence of endemic faults etc. Unless the whole video is lies, and the ridiculous documents are false (I doubt they are), it is a very poor situation. I’m appalled at how the Dealership appears to have performed.

I don't know why the video has been posted in multiple threads. In all honesty it makes keeping track of the discussion difficult for me. I'd be quite happy for a mod to tidy the relevant posts into one topic in the McLaren sub-forum to keep things tidy.

Sorry guys for causing some confusing by posting this twice. Generally not really interest in McLarens because of too many bad experiences from left and right, but now and then the combination of performance and deals make me think. As mentioned in the video McLaren Manchester really does have great deals from time to time

Yup...100% agree.

However, maybe i am wired up a little bit different with regards to the decision making processes demonstrated.

If i were presented with a nonsensical disclaimer regards to issues on a couple of £200k+ supercars i am about to purchase, the first thing i am going to do after refusing to sign is call McLaren customer services and get hold of someone high up the tree to offer an explanation or a bit if clarity on the matter.

Secondly, if either of the cars i was about to purchase had any paint defects, scratches or ppf issues, i would not be accepting the suggestion of 'take it away just now and we shall rectify afterwards'. That is just insane. It doesn't matter how busy your work schedule is...your not going to accept that.

These guys took the youtube dude down as, in his own words 'a consultant'.

What purpose did he serve if they both went against his advice, both signed the disclaimer, both accepted and drove away with the cars?

The mind boggles that all 3 of them bought the 'knock sensor' bullst story to explain lack of prep and very poor handover.

Was their treatment terrible...yes.

Should discipline or dismissal start from the dealer principle downwards...yes.

Should the 3 heads at the other side of the sales desk accepted the chain of events of that day...no.

It was, it appears, an outstanding bit of 'Jedi Knight' ism by the sales guy.

Thats where this all whole sorry debacle went downhill rapid.

Whizz forward...end result is the guy now has a 600LT spider instead of a 570 spider...has to hurt but i guess he shall suck it up.

However, that in itself is another issue; how has it got to the stage that you can get £35k off 600LTs and great financial deals in order for McLaren to clear the 600LT stock? If you had a problematic 911 c4s, in no way would a deal be concocted for you to end up with a GT3.

Anyways; good this has been raised and aired, as it clearly shows how a dealer should not act, but it has also prompted other owners to post what their dealer experiences has been, to which it has been mostly positive.

On a footnote, as the guy whom made the clip is now responding on here, it might of been handy if he had started a thread and posting the video and comment on here, rather than it now being spread over 3 or 4 threads and discussion all being disjointed.
