I have got the set of pictures that Jared Barnes (instagram) took over the weekend, some absolute stunners! Delighted with how the rolling ones came out considering we only did a couple of runs up a hill.

His IG page is - https://instagram.com/jaredbarnes_photo?igshid=t0i...

Here are a few of the pics he sent me

Both sets of photos are fabulous, beautiful background which really shows off the car well. Perfect for printing off in large format for the garage wall....

I tend to be one of the silent many on PH - lurking and reading but rarely posting.

Usually it's because I'm not particularly connected to the people on the forum who live miles away...

Hence it's a strange feeling to see this popular PH thread with all your photos taking place on roads I know so well! I'm based in Kirriemuir but often up over Cairn O' Mount, Glenshee, and the Lecht on Porsche Club organiser duties.

Once passed you on the North Deeside road in the dark - the car looked ace, very wide and low in the half light.
Only realised it was you when the 944's dim headlights picked out your plate!

944 is sold and Cayman inbound - will stand a slightly better chance of keeping up next time I cross your path wink

Keep it up, lovely to see all your beautiful shots and to be reminded how lucky we are round these parts with great roads..

You guys are so lucky to live near these roads, fabulous driving roads although there was a light dusting when I was through there in March

Just to aid the spending flow, I recently moved from a 570S to a 600LT Spider.

Best thing I’ve ever driven !!!

Justin, those pictures are utterly stunning, your car looks spectacular.

I've just come back from a 4 day road trip round the Scottish borders, got a few decent pics of my 570S but not on your level!

Give me a wave next time!

I wave at everyone smile

I'm currently on day one of a trip round scotland but haven't stopped much for pictures, annoyingly. The weather has been great so will try and stop tomorrow once we're over and heading round Skye.

The power makes trips like this absolutely effortless. Overtaking is just too easy..
And I've been approached at every petrol station and car park for a picture or a chat. Everyone seems to love it

Love that blue, which colour is it? Any pics from your trip? What route did you go? OI've just got back from a 600 mile trip over on the West coast and around Skye. I'm just sorting through a few pics and will post a write up later..

How are you finding the change? I must admit, I miss having the roof off.. Particularly on a road trip. I couldn't stretch to an LT, but might be tempted by a 570S Spider. I'm just not sure it would be different enough to warrant a change. I went from a V8 Vantage coupe to a roadster, but the cost to change wasn't too significant..

Looks like Vega Blue, but could also be Burton Blue (which is a slightly deeper, more purply-blue). Either way, looks stunning clap

So I've just returned from a brilliant three day run around the west coast of Scotland and up through Skye, then over to the East Coast. I'll try and summarise without too many photos smile

Day 1 Route -

Glencoe(1) by justinking1986, on Flickr

We set off early doors with the plan of trying to see the famous 'Harry Potter' train passing through Glenfinnan Viaduct at 3pm, allowing for stop offs and lunch etc. The road took us down through the Old Military Road which is just brilliant, I've been on it before and it looks like this -

Old Military Road - A93 by justinking1986, on Flickr

I would highly recommend a run through it if anyone is ever near. Blairgowrie up to Braemar

Onwards towards the west coast, with a quick stop off

DSC_2988 by justinking1986, on Flickr

Glenfinnan Viaduct is worth a visit even if there is no train passing, its very picturesque -

DSC_2973 by justinking1986, on Flickr

The road from Fort William over to Mallaig for our first night, was another stunning road. Very open and well sighted. Plenty of overtaking opportunities hehe

I didn't stop off much, and arrived at the hotel. Ideal parking spot, and could keep an eye on the car from the restaurant. It's unbelievable the amount of finger prints I've found on the car (not ours) and spotted people leaning against the car getting photos etc..

Day 2 Route - This was going to be a long day but wanted to cram as much in as we could, and then take it a bit easier on the last day

Skye(1) by justinking1986, on Flickr

Mallaig is a charming wee town, lots of restaurants a bars. Good place to pass through

DJI_0057 by justinking1986, on Flickr

Up early for the early ferry crossing from Mallaig to Armadale -

Off we go -

Landed on Skye and decided a coffee was needed. Stumbled upon a little hotel, and yet another person caught leaning on the car...

One of the main intentions of the trip was to get round some Whisky distilleries and do a couple of tours. First one was the Talker Distillery, which is the only one on the Skye mainland -

Couple of souvenirs -

Skye itself was absolutely stunning, and the highlight of the trip for me.. Views like this around every corner -

I had booked dinner at a little restaurant called the Three Chimneys. It is right in the middle of nowhere but worth the hike up to it. The Food was excellent! We had the 6 course tasting menu. Not sure what it all was but it tasted great!

From the Three Chimneys we did a loop round the top of Skye and down towards Portree for yet more coffee. I must admit, Portree was a bit of a disappointment. Everyone speaks so highly of it so maybe my expectations were too high.. Not sure, I wouldn't rush back

DSC_3027 by justinking1986, on Flickr

From Portree we then headed to what I thought would be the highlight, the Applecross Pass. Probably the most famous section of the NC500. We were lucky as by the time we arrived there, 7:30pm, we pretty much had the road to ourselves. The 540 bottomed out a couple of times due to the peaks and troughs. Nothing major, but the car is definitely too low to travel at speed along here -

Fairly non eventful after that, had a drive around Lochcarron and went to Kinlochewe for the night

And finally day 3 route - Much more relaxed today, and decided to visit the old place my parents used to take me on holiday. Great beach up there and the weather was great

Screen Shot 2019-06-28 at 08.10.21 by justinking1986, on Flickr

On leaving the hotel, it took us up the famous road that looks back onto Loch Maree -

20190627_100406(1) by justinking1986, on Flickr

DJI_0167 by justinking1986, on Flickr

Again, roads were very empty! Up then over to the east coast and the old family holiday caravan park. I don't think I've been here in 20 years but still very familiar although modernised,

Plenty more coffee and a couple of village stop offs for some nick naks, then off home. I'll write up some thoughts on the car soon, but this was the trip for the journey -

Not bad going with the MPG and mileage.

Great trip report and what stunning scenery and photos. I'm based in London and it's a killer to think I would have to spend 9 odd hours on mostly boring motorway to get to Glencoe, need to do a trip up there sometime but getting the Vantage sent up on a transporter instead might make more sense. Cant believe people put their paws on the car that's unnecessary!

They really are superb pictures Justin. I did the N500 two years ago in my 911 GTS and it was the very best road trip I've done (and I've driven extensively in Europe and USA, nothing beats Scotland IMO).

Indeed, the road from Invergarry to Sky (A87?) is one of the finest drives I will remember. Superb road, no traffic, no law, well surfaced and great scenery. Oh, and the day before through the Trossachs National Park on the way to Fort William (which I think you have also photographed somewhere) ranks right up there.

This year I did the borders region, so Day 1 was effectively Newcastle to Carlisle (the long way round, obviously!), then on Day 2 it was Carlisle over to the coast at Portpatrick and up to Stanraer. They were good days, but day three leaving Stranraer and driving through the Galloway Forest Park, Wanlockhead, Crawfordjohn and then onto Moffat (a good 250 mile route) was probably as good as anything I'd driven on the NC500, minus the spectacular views.

I'm heading up to Yorkshire and Pennines for the day tomorrow then, in three weeks time, a European trip covering my annual pilgrimage to the Nurgburging for a few days, then onto Switzerland where I'll do a couple of passes. My wife and children are flying over and we're doing a train journey across the Bernese Oberland....whilst my McLaren is transported from our starting point in Lucerne to end point in Gstaad.

You could say I'm getting reasonable use out of the McLaren however I've only got it until September as I've got a Porsche 992 on the way (and I'm not rich enough to have both!). The 570S is easily the best car I've had and ironically so far, it's one of the most reliable - I've had literally zero issues. But sadly, outside of these few trips, it just doesn't get used properly (a 10 mile daily commute really doesn't cut it). I've got two one-year olds so frankly, I'm at a stage of my life where I need a car that I can enjoy with them meaning two-seaters are ruled out for a while.

My 570S is Vega Blue which is a regular colour rather than a special MSO option. I really like the colour, when I bought the car it stood out for me against all the grey's, whites and oranges, as does your red to be fair (the red really suits this car).

I do have a few more photo's of my recent trip but they are nothing like your spectacular pictures! I need to get some photo's taken by the others in my group which were taken with a bit more creativity than mine (I'm no photographer!) and I'll pop them up here.

Ah you absolutely should. Perfect for getting the drone out and even the guitar. Failing that, you could treat yourself to a new one made from reclaimed whisky barrels smile
