Maybe consider further test driving in MSO equipped 540/570, as videos don't always reproduce reality of noise and sound so well.

Did 11k miles on my MSO and sounded great on spider especially with back window down or sans roof. Car now for sale at Romans
Mod500 your 570s at Romans does look spectacular in that colour combo I am undecided on lairy curacao blue or your classy very understated car

Any ownership experiences you willing to share, how useable was it everyday or did you do long trips to put on 6k miles did you get a lot of attention or was the colour understated, how was parking, reliability, why are you selling should I buy it ?

PM me if it's easier

Thanks

Just a replacement rear section, same cats.............a Larini gives you the same for about one fifth of the price.........
Is that really the case? Is it just rear section on the Titanium MSO exhaust they change, ie not a full system? Have seen Larini also offer a system with sports cats as well but read another thread saying it’s pointless getting Cats done too - anyone know if that’s true? I have heard Seen Through Glass’s 540C on YouTube with full Larini system and did seem to sound rather good.

Also heard some clips of Brooke Race Exhausts replacement rear box, X pipe inconel system and also sounds pretty nice. Interestingly BRE doesn’t change the Cats and thinks there’s no point to, but it is a chunk more expensive than just the Larini rear system.

Anyone experience of either? Would rather not invalidate the warranty or start messing with remaps, emissions etc if a rear box can do a decent job on the noise front...

Yes, the MSO exhaust is just a TI back box only.

Best value for money and noise would be a Larini.

But it's essentially still all largely the same noise...........if you really want to alter the noise you need sports cats or decats......

Presumably with the need for noise you have no intention of tracking it ?

Having come from a Lambo and also owing a Lotus Cup the last thing i wanted was noise when I bought my 570S, as it makes your car virtually untrackable in the UK and Mclarens should be tracked.

Mclarens DNA is on track and everyone should take their car on to really taste the performance but everyone to their own.

Let the Lambo brigade make the noise but it’s the Mclarens that can deliver the performance

I just want a bit more of an evocative noise, not necessarily just louder. Have had a Lambo before (straight pipe Larini system) and coming from a de-catted V12 Vantage. I know I’m not going to get anyway near those spine tingling notes, but would like something a little more than current.
I agree, the all round driving and performance far outweighs the exhaust note, you’re so immersed in the driving experience you tend to forget the note.
Presumably an X pipe and different pipe material will help on the exhaust note too before getting in to Cats etc?
Also, for everyone that bemoans the McLaren noise (and I used to be one of them 😬) I don’t think it’s any worse than a 488 or Pista. I really don’t think they sound all that great either but no one is bashing them...

I've just had a Larini added to my 720S > https://www.larinisystems.com/collection/mclaren/m... Only Cats back as was advised by the fitter that it would be very noisy if I replaced everything and could exceed track day DB restrictions. Here's the post on FB if you want to listen. Flick through the photos to get to the video. https://www.facebook.com/michael.lounton/videos/27...

Go in touch with Eddy from Brooke Race Exhausts - for those of you that don't know him, he is an absolutely top bloke, used to work for the engineering firm that made all McLaren's Formula 1 teams' exhausts as well as McLaren for 2 years too before setting up on his own.

He makes his parts bespoke, out of inconcel and doesn't invalidate the warranty which was important for me. It sounds awesome now, online video's etc just don't do it justice; is such a good sound, more high pitched and emotive - not just more noise - and you get some nice flames coming out of it too! Some good pops and bangs too (not contrived like on some cars Ive had before - Porsche, I'm looking at you) and then some rifle like cracks on the downshifts... overall am absolutely delighted with it!

Am told he recently changed someone's who had the MSO Titanium and he was worried there wouldn't be as big a change for the customer, but in fact this sounds much better again and the customer really happy!

I also came to a Mac from a decatted Vantage, so know you're pain in the lack of sound 'quality'

I've got the standard exhaust on mine and fancy an exhaust but always worried it would just be a louder version of what I already have.

It's ashame companies like BRE or Larini can't get their exhaust sounds recorded professionally to give a better representative sound.

How did BRE cost in comparison to the Larini or MSO?

If you are at Wilton Wake Up tomorrow morning, you can have a listen to my Larini.

I’ll just repeat my seemingly lonely view - my 650s spider with top or backlight down sounds better INSIDE than the highly appreciated sound of my V12 Vantage. Don’t mess with the exhaust - get a spider! Less whooshing, much more SNARLING!

I have a Titanium Akrapovic for the 570 that I’m going to sell soon if anyone is interested. About 15% louder than the Mclaren sports exhaust I had and a very different note with pops and crackles.

Superb quality item as with everything Akrapovic.
