There's the elephant in the room
I have a mate whos made money on Porsche GT's BUT he conveniently forgets the losses on the Targa, Turbo, Nacan and Panamera wink
Ferrari are the same, with the funding from FIAT rather than SUV's
I’ve got a new 3RS coming and have never bought any of the above, the saying that you have to buy this and that is not actually true!

I tried to get a GT3 from one OPC a couple of years ago and was told I hadn't bought enough cars.

I just enquired with another on 718 GT4 and the reply I got was....

"The GT4 and Spyder are models that we do an invitation to purchase. We offer these vehicles to our loyal customers who have bought over 10 vehicles and use us for servicing.
Unfortunately we can’t offer the availability to first time customers."

Looks like you've been extremely lucky.

Agreed
I made the same enquiry after parking my 675LT right out the front of my OPC.
I got the same story but worse.
"before I can offer it to you I have to offer it to every customer who has ever bought a car from us"
I had no intention if flipping it, unlike the majority of people they are offered to frown
Goodbye Porsche!

Why people play that game of buying Macans etc to get on the GT list is beyond me ...surely paying overs in the used mkt makes better financial sense than the depreciation on 10 normal Porsches

It does make better financial sense, but the buyer doesn't get the kudos of being the first name on the log book which is where financial sense goes out of the window.

Goodbye Porsche!
After missing the cut by 2 places for a GT3 last time, i got a phone call after launch day to say i shall be offered either a spyder or a gt4 when allocations numbers are confirmed.
Funny thing is, i have no desire now for either. I didn't even contact them for a GT3RS because my personal thoughts are that i feel you look a bit of a tool on public roads or pulling up at the shops with that spoiler and the other 'race' car bits. The GT3 or touring are much better offerings.
I feel that my current Mac offers the best of both of the spyder and gt4 offerings +50%. Yes, you could buy and try to flip, but market conditions are changing and i couldn't be bothered with the hassle...and i could not justify adding either one as i struggle to find the time to get out in about with what i have just now.
It is a great strategy that Porsche have; there is nothing worse than being told you cannot have something.

My views and this is not a Porsche forum so I should be fine.

Macca are in an other league compared to Porsche, faaar above the everyday appeal of a Cayman or 911. Fair enough budget is different too (excluding premiums!)

I was in a similar position, well GT4 is not guaranteed but they told me yes I was on the list for one because local and bought/serviced with them....honestly I wanted to move on, was blown away by the drama of a McLaren and still litterally speachless regarding my 600LT.

Only real selling point of the 992 or any Carrera for me are the small rear seats which are handy if you have kids ...otherwise I find all Porsche’s overpriced vs their competitors new 992 is over 100k with options ..madness ..a 2/3 yr old 570 is cheaper no comparison really .

Out of the 'big 4', i do not feel as though you would consider using a Ferrari or a Lamborghini ( exc Urus! ) as a daily...i was pretty fed up after a short time driving in the Ferrari; i imagine Lambos to be the same. ( could be wrong ). Not just for the driving experience but the parking up bit and worrying about leaving it somewhere. The Ferrari was very black and white what people thought of it...praise or hate...and what they may do to it if no-one was looking...

Both Porsche and McLarens can very easily be used as a daily; especially in the superseries with the trick suspension.

My last non-stop 4hr journey in the Mac felt like i had time travelled and had only been going for an hour and a half max...in a 992 it may well feel the same.

However, in the Mac, wherever you arrive its like an event. There is no such comment as 'its just a McLaren' that can come with a Porsche.

Also, the big surprise is the absolute lack of haters...it seems out and about everyone loves a Mac and wants to ask about it, sit in it, get pics taken with it....i have no worries about leaving it anywhere at all.

Currently i struggle where you go after a McLaren...i'm chuffed that i have started at the 650 spider so the progression can hopefully be a 600lt spider or a 720 spider...after that the head scratching would start.

Any other marque would feel a regression in terms of looks, performance and wow factor...i'm sure that is not a unique thought of mines.

I didn't forget to add a 675lt spider...its just they will never be in my modest price range!

It would be 100% the next step if it was...i take it is like your previous 650 spider with the volume turned to 10?!

What colour is yours?

Having had my 600LT Spider for a few weeks I’m absolutely blown away with how capable and special it feels.
There’s a level of compliance and usability that you just don’t find in other track specials.

I’m very impressed

SOOO different to the 650 even though they do share a lot
Fast, more nimble, sounds better, steering feel is superb, crazy fast on B roads
Love it
I had my name down for a 600LT spider but once I drove a 675 that was it.
BTW don't drive one wink
Here it is

Spot on! I’ve just driven from Gloucester to Sunderland in the 720S, a journey I usually hate in the Range Rover due to the massive amount of roadworks taking place. I took the long route up the M6 then over the A66 via Kirkby Stephen - lovely drive. Many ‘thumbs up’ from other drivers and even had a woman ask me to marry her (not very pretty, but neither am I). Every time I go out in the 720S, someone is taking a photo. My 86 year old mother loves going out in it and she finds the passenger seat comfortable. People smile when they see the car. You see people mouth the word “WOW” when they see it. “Can I sit in it” is a regular event, which I oblige, to see the smile on the persons face. I am in a fortunate position to have a car of this type and it’s good to share some of the joy, even if it’s just to let someone sit in it and start her up. There’s not many cars that would have this great effect.

3 different colours and all 3 look totally stunning....i will add another colour to the mix!

All the above is bang on.

When i got the McLaren i was a little bit taken aback by the attention when you stop at the shops, petrol station or takeaway... I'm not a bammy type so it took me a little bit of time to appreciate that it makes someones day to let them sit in, take pics or have a 5 min chat about the car.

Last Monday i was at a junction in Perth waiting to pull out and a Ferrari Superfast was coming along the road...a rare beast indeed...had the thumbs up for it going past and was completely blanked by the owner! Now you cannot miss the colour of mines so to pretend he couldn't see me was daft.
It just re-confirmed that the small gesture of giving someone a bit of your time is defo worth it...they feel good, and i guess it makes me feel good...thumbup

Yes I thought the same about the RS as have race cars ( Pork and Fez ) and not keen on the overt race car on the road look . So when finally offered a GT3RS after missing the GT3 as only bought 1 car new ( a 03 GT3 ) , decided to do it and just went toned down by getting Black and deleting Clubsport . I use it as a daily so no need for harnesses , and done 6 k miles in a year ...

You're lucky they even spoke to you. A couple of months ago I went to my local OPC (somewhere in Surrey not far off the A3 for those who know the area) twice in a few days. Turned up once in GTC4 Lusso, second time in Panamera ST. Not that what I arrive in should matter, but you'd think even the dumbest salesteam but think it was worth being proactive sometimes.

Went inside. On one occasion there was one other punter in there, on the other I was alone. There were at least half a dozen staff milling around, mostly talking to each other or staring at walls or computer screens. Not once did anyone think of coming near me and actually speaking, other than the receptionist who smiled but didn't ask if I needed any help.

I know the car industry is in a tough place sales wise, and can see why, but lazy idiots like this are hardly helping themselves.

That really is staggering...maybe selling Porsche’s is so easy they don’t need to approach potential customers at all?

Whilst it’s annoying that some of us will never be ‘allowed’ to buy the GT cars, it’s not really surprising that Porsche look after their best customers, is it?

Any other business that fails to look after its best customers would be criticised on here for being arrogant.

They know their market and they do very well by it.
