You're lucky they even spoke to you. A couple of months ago I went to my local OPC (somewhere in Surrey not far off the A3 for those who know the area) twice in a few days. Turned up once in GTC4 Lusso, second time in Panamera ST. Not that what I arrive in should matter, but you'd think even the dumbest salesteam but think it was worth being proactive sometimes.

Went inside. On one occasion there was one other punter in there, on the other I was alone. There were at least half a dozen staff milling around, mostly talking to each other or staring at walls or computer screens. Not once did anyone think of coming near me and actually speaking, other than the receptionist who smiled but didn't ask if I needed any help.

I know the car industry is in a tough place sales wise, and can see why, but lazy idiots like this are hardly helping themselves.
Identical experience at OPC GUildford. Complacent and sleeping at the wheel comes to mind.

Depends what you mean by discount. There are several available with delivery mileage (or near) and seem to be a bit lower price.

If they’re still taking orders for them you may be able to get a bit.

I’ve got a new 3RS coming and have never bought any of the above, the saying that you have to buy this and that is not actually true!

I tried to get a GT3 from one OPC a couple of years ago and was told I hadn't bought enough cars.

I just enquired with another on 718 GT4 and the reply I got was....

"The GT4 and Spyder are models that we do an invitation to purchase. We offer these vehicles to our loyal customers who have bought over 10 vehicles and use us for servicing.
Unfortunately we can’t offer the availability to first time customers."

Looks like you've been extremely lucky.
Has anyone seen the Carfection video with Catchpole and Preuninger? Andreas is very clear that whilst the 981 GT4 took them slightly by surprise with its success (and subsequent lack of availability to buyers), they intend to try and make the 718 GT4 & Spyder more accessible to folks...

Whether that actually happens at the local level is actually another story.

I think it's a bit of an internet myth that Porsche won't sell you a GT product unless you've bought 10 plus SUV's etc from them. From my OPC I have only ever purchased new a 997 GT3 RS 3.8, a Cayman GT4 and a 991.2 GT3 Touring. I have never bought a standard product from them. All other 911's I've owned (996 RS, 993 RS, 964 RS, 2.7 RS etc) have been bought used from indi's or privately, not sure that would count for anything with my OPC, except to prove I'm an enthusiast. I did trade both the 997 and GT4 back to my OPC against new purchases, but to be fair neither was below market value. I also could have had but chose not to order the 991.1 GT3/RS (because don't like PDK) and latest 718 GT4, the only car I tried to order but missed an allocation for was the 997 4.0 GT3 RS, but only cause I was too slow to register my interest. Actually I did try for a 991R, but my OPC only got 1 allocation and it went to someone who'd also ordered a 918 Spyder, so that's fair enough it was very limited numbers in the UK.

Anyway, that's my experience, but I accept not all OPC's are the same. My chap did say the fact I use my cars, don't flip them and have them serviced with the OPC does count for something. I also have two mates who both got 981 GT4 allocations from OPC Mayfair without any previous new Porsche purchase history.

Anyway, enjoy your 600LT's, they look like a very special car and hopefully one day I might try one.

My quote was not a recollection of a conversation or heresay from a firend, it's a cut and paste from the email reply I got from my OPC.

Thanks, i was merely trying to inject some balance. I can only speak from my experience, and others, the tired old line that some get fed isn’t necessarily UK wide policy. A bit like Ferrari, it’s all smoke and mirrors which feeds the illusion of excess demand versus restricted supply. Persevere and you’ll get an allocation, especially of a GT4.

I’m not really that stressed, I’ve not long had my 600LT Spider and my Pista arrives later this year so I’m a bit full on cars anyway to be fair.

I just fancied trying Porsche and after failing to get a GT3 a couple of years ago I thought I’d try a GT4

Give it a little time and I’ll bet you get one if you can be bothered to keep trying. Porsche’s “limited” isn’t what it used to be

Think your mate got a bit of a steal on that car - not sure if he has the original invoice but I did advise Simon not to go quite so cuckoo with the the spec... 412,500 or something list iirc! What a way to lose nearly £200k Ouch!!!!

He does and he did thumbup
Yep Simon did go a bit crazy with MSO
Problem is he was never going to get much of it back.
MSO only really holds value on the VERY limited cars like the High Sports and Full CF body cards.
For what he spent on that new he could now have a lightly used spider AND coupe in the garage!
