As it has basically been another year, I just posted an updated article on our McLarens & Reliability on karenable. In summary:

McLaren #5 – 2015 650S Spider: This car has been my daily driver for the last 4 ½ years now. No issues and only time it has been back to the dealership is for its yearly service. There have been a couple of minor recalls, all of which have been handled as part of the annual service. This year we also replaced all four tires and did a full wheel alignment. Four years of driving around the lunar surface like roads of Dallas had not be kind to either. The only other very minor tantrum the 650S Spider has thrown was over a dislike for 64GB Scandisk USB drives. When I tried to use one with the IRIS infotainment system it repeatedly crashed. Once I swapped the 64GB USB drive for the 32GB drive I had been using prior, IRIS immediately returned to life.

McLaren #6 – 2016 675LT Spider: This car has done multiple 1000+ miles road trips and been driven hard in the mountains its entire life. The 675LT Spider has never had a single issue and it’s only has seen the inside of the workshop for its annual services. Like the 650S Spider, a few minor recalls have been taken care of during the annual visits to the McLaren service center. To date the largest cost has been this year’s windshield replacement. The damage was caused by a rock that flew off the back of a large dump truck in Pennsylvania. It sounded like a gun shot when it hit the windshield.

McLaren #7 – 2018 720S: Never had a single problem and it just had its second completely routine annual service.

McLaren #8 – 2019 Senna: The Senna just arrived in June. So far, it’s had one recall item that was prompt taken care of.

Always enjoy your write-ups so a big thumbs up and keep posting.
I've recently sold my 570S coupe with the idea that I'd like to upgrade to a Spider either 650 or another 570.
What mileage have you done in you DD 650 now?

I'm looking for a low mile example but not too low as to potentially cause issue through lack of use.

The 650S Spider is well into 5 digits on the odometer.

I'm guessing it's been ultra reliable for a mileage from 10k to 99k? If it's high mileage it would be nice to know because being reliable for 'only' 10k doesn't help my research.
Appreciate if you don't want to give away the mileage of your car for personal reasons.

In addition to any further info BoxerF50 may offer, my Nov 2015 650 spider has 29.5k miles and has been completely reliable with no roof leaks, dash creaks, faults or failures.

During last service they noticed a leaking damper that they decided to replace under warranty and a trace oil leak that they also resolved...neither of which i knew about or affected the drive.

I personally cannot recommend a 650 spider enough....it's a fantastic all round supercar that i have yet to find tiring or uncomfy regardless of hours behind the wheel.

No probs. thumbup

Anything else just ask... whether actual McLaren service and warranty costs and how much i managed to negotiate etc...all genuine info i have paid and no internet made up figures.

I also sourced a few new carbon bits that the car was missing such as wheel arch liners, scuttle panel and engine bay covers that they also fitted for me....that is your old pals at McLaren Glasgow!

Its a buyers market so try and source the highest spec and carbon content 650 as possible...

Having now had my 2017 570GT for over a year now and having its annual service done my McLaren New Forest I can only say the dealer service has been superb and the car is fantastic. I bought her privately and have not been disappointed.

Only small item that needs fixing is one interior light is out and I’m waiting a replacement. Other than that, it drives fantastic and has been a blast driving to the Cote d’azure.

I did buy 2 years extended warranty and expect to keep it long term. I do not use it as a daily driver but it is always fun to drive.

I am considering to get a 570S/ GT next year. One concern for the GT is that I am going to do 4-5 track day per year. Do you have any issue of engine overheating due to the conceal engine compartment in the GT? Love the looks of GT though compare to the S.

I've done a few track days in my 570s with a couple at the ring during the summer no issues with overheating...it's a motorsport derived engine (think it was originally used in Nascar) so it's pretty bombproof and if anything detuned in 570 guise so you shouldn't have any concerns.

Sorry misread your comment you're concerned about the concealed engine in the GT... I'd doubt it's a problem but can't confirm..for trackdays the S is slightly more focused than the GT but understand if you prefer the GT looks.

No worries. Good to know the 570s feel at home on track work. Don't feel much of turbo lag?

Nah nothing noticeable tbh..it really flies above 5k rpm...186mph down the main straight at the Ring.

C Harris and the like from the press complain about turbo lag.

If revs are above 4000rpm, I don't notice any significant lag.

Do you find it squirmy under braking?
