As the prices of a used 570S are comparable to a 991.1 GT3, I've been looking at a 570S as a weekend/track day car instead of a GT3.

Does anyone use their 570S on track? If so, do they require any necessary mods? Also, how do they stand up to regular track use?

I track mine. I would suggest trying to find one with the optional 'track pack'. The seats alone are worth it.... especially at the track.

Mine has been perfect. There is little that I can't run away from, and it is not wanting for more power.

A 570S Track Pack is an advantage, P1 Seats, Superlight Weight seats etc.

No mods really required except maybe wheel
Spacers and of course decent tyres

The 2 areas of concern are tyres and brakes though. But no different to a Porsche in that respect although Mclarens have brake steer and will consume rear pads . If you are remotely mechanical no real issue as you can self change and also a second set of wheels/tyres makes a lot of sense

Better suited to larger faster tracks like Silvestone, Bedford and Donington really

I see you are a fellow Exige 430 Cup and a 570S. In addition to my Exige I also own a 12c but am beginning to think I might change to a 570S spyder...or I simply unbolt the roof on my Exige!

How do you find the Exige and 570S compare??

They are sublime on track - the key thing I noticed was that even when the car is set to Track Mode for powertrain and suspension, the electronics still are very much in play as on corner exits you can feel the car holding back - great initially as you're getting the feel of the car but becomes frustrating once you've built up confidence - easy solution is to turn off the ESC and then the car lets you get on the power much sooner.

The car is very progressive with oversteer and inspires huge confidence and actually a huge amount of fun on track.

Do you all get the track pre / post inspections? If so what do they involve / cost?

I usually take my 360 to the supercar weekend and would probably want to take the 650 next year, but don't want to void the warranty.

Welcome. smile

Have you driven one or even stand next to it?

911 will appear a normal car after. That was my reaction.

I've driven a 12c, 570S coupe & spider. Driving my Cayman GT4 straight after driving the 570 coupe was a mistake as the GT4 felt floppy and unfocused.

TBH - I found the dealership experiance with McLaren light years better than Porsche but at the time of looking but couldn't conclude a satisfactory deal.

They've dropped to a price point where, even with the warranty costs factored in, I think they are becoming great value for money in comparison to other similar cars in the same market sector.

You mean 570S is miles more focused than GT4 I assume wink

Although it is not raw as it should be.

Re dealer experience, I still find Porsche the best, they got the advantage of bigger sales but wanting to keep premium experience.

McLaren is too niche so showroom are small and deserts... based on my experience.

Inspections pre and post can be carried out by any proficient car mechanic adhering to Mclarens check list. Don’t go to a McLaren dealer unless you want to pay overs

There are 2 track day organisers who build this in

Yes got a right pair !!! And yes get roof off, fantastic sound !!

The Exige Cup 430 is difficult to get on track and almost impossible to on a static test. I think it is better suited to twistier stuff though and not the large circuits.

At Anglesey it was in its element against friends GT3 Rs but at Goodwood I could barely keep up

In comparison my 570s Track Pack is better on the bigger faster circuits and no noise issues

The cars and chalk and cheese , Lotus is full on, demands more skill to hurry along, more forgiving and you can make errors and correct them. The McLaren is quicker at 8/10’s but at 9/10’s you have take care and not particularly forgiving but you can listen to music and also have a conversation

How do the brake discs/pads hold up to track use?

What’s the replacement cost like?

Stick a Lotus track exhaust on the 430. Noise problem solved.
