That car isn't road legal. It's prepped for the 1/4 mile.
Huh?

They drove it to the track.

The only '1/4 mile prep' was tyre heaters because ambient temperature was 6 centigrade.

Super sticky prepped drag surface.

Back on track.

I'm old enough to remember the McLaren F1 hitting 100mph in 6.3 seconds, a time - at the time - that blew me away, anything under 10 seconds back then was considered incredible.

It took a long, long time for that to be beaten.

Even in the Veyron era it wasn't much (if any, quicker) and the Chiron might be faster but quicker? maybe not.

For a daily useable, 'affordable' car to do this, is, to me, astounding, the 720S has always punched mightily above its weight, a stock version ran a 9.7 quarter mile (no, I'm not American) and I don't know of another production car that's beaten this.

I think the point about the 720s is that in addition to being a great road car and track car, it is so fast in a straight line.

Like Formula 1 cars, lightweight high power-to-weight performance cars will always be difficult to get off the line, unlike fat 4WD dragsters.

Speaking about which, that Jeep will stand no chance vs. my bone stock humble DD Tesla MS P100D off the line - for a few seconds at least.

No one could give a st. A modified “white goods” car shaking itself to pieces as it tries to go quick screams chav.

Why you feel the need to tell people on a McLaren forum, that is mind boggling.
If nobody gives a st why are you all getting aggressive and upset?

Why do you feel the need to make condescending comments?

This is PH. It's not a McLaren forum. It is open for all to post.

I wish I hadn't posted now. I didn't realise this part of the forum was this sensitive.
You can’t be a McLaren section regular - people can sometimes be a little touchy in this section (similar to Tesla threads). In fairness to a degree it is because no other car seems to generate quite so many discussions (mainly value as opposed to performance related though)

Why feed the trolls?

There will always be people who can afford something and people who cannot.

If you can; great, enjoy, and ignore the trolls.

Speaking of tyres - anyone with winter experience of trofeos? Thinking will I do enough mileage over winter to swap out on my LT.

Regards the 720S, best current overall supercar - end of.

I drove Corsas on a cold wet track day (plus to and from the track) and they were rather bad (temperature was below 5), so I’d assume the Trofeos won’t be much better. My Sottozeros perform very well in all winter conditions

Dragstrip surface - too sticky to walk on with sneakers. At 15:00 in the video.

as said before the stock 720 can do the 1/4 in the 9's. not many standard cars you can buy (especially for £150k) that will do this
