Went for the Mclaren one, the Thorney one just isn't as comprehensive from my understanding.

So another update from me now over 6 months into ownership. So far the cars been fantastic and a really positive ownership experience not only in how it makes me feel but in the reactions from and interactions with random people of which there have been many. Double trackday at the Ring on the horizon in mid July so left her in to have a pre trackday inspection to make sure it's in tip-top shape for the assault on the Green Hell! A few items came up and had I not extended the warranty in Feb would have left me with quite a hefty bill. So a front damper is leaking hydraulic fluid so that needs replacing, the bushings on both the lower and upper suspension arms are split and perishing so all 4 arms will be replaced...I was aware of the top arm bushings as this was flagged to me in Feb as the prev owner didn't pay to replace them as he had the car in between warranties so that item only covered again once someone pays for em ( me!). All told not far off £6k for all of that of which approx £4400 is covered. Car has just over 20k on the clock of which I've covered 3500. Just to compare my V12 Vantage never had anything other than normal services and consumables (tyres and brake pads) and same for the R8 V10 before it. Are the suspension arm bushings a common issue at that kind of mileage? Anyway I'm ahead on my warranty purchase for this yr already but I guess the parts being replaced now will be good for a few yrs at least. As often said these cars may have halved in price but they still coming with the running costs of a £170k car.

Good to see you are still enjoying the car and great you are happy to post updates warts and all. But are young alarmed that relatively news car needs so much fixed , albeit under warranty. Makes me worried they are not as well built as say a Porsche or and Audi. Ir is a case of " hell it is a Mclaren you have to forgive it for these minor issues " ?
If I’m being honest I am a bit disappointed that these items have come up even though for the most part covered by the warranty. I’ve never had suspension bushings requiring replacement on any car before let alone at only 20k miles. I was hoping that my warranty outlay wouldn’t be recouped but so far the work done is over double what the warranty cost. My dealer has been superb in terms of squeezing the work in before my track day as they are quite busy. I’ve been able to enjoy the car pretty much uninterrupted since I got it which is v important hoping that with these issues sorted car will be clear until service time at yr end.

Yes they allowed me extend without replacing them but the item was flagged so I knew I’d have to cover cost of those myself whenever I got around to it. Now that they are being replaced the warranty covers them again...shame the prev owner didn’t fork out but prob wasn’t that pressing an issue for him. The fact that I’m doing a double trackday at the ring meant the technicians felt all these items should be replaced ...at least I can take comfort in knowing the car is fully prepped and ready for action. Meeting a buddy over there if you haven’t been it’s an amazing place, I went first in 2014 more to tick the box but I was hooked and have been every year since .

Not sure if you can replace just the individual bushings on a Golf but the whole arm has to be replaced on a 570s which makes it quite expensive!
