Well it has been some time and thought I should give a little update. The car has now turned 5 and just had its 5th service,
Currently mileage 22’500
Miles covered this year 3500

I have used the car as much as possible, gym, shopping, drives out, general life duties. It continues to draw very positive attention and continues to be completely reliable.
I did plan a euro trip but it fell through, I did however get out to nurburgring , I didn’t plan on taking it round, but ended up doing 1 very conservative lap , it was a good trip, and an amazing place.

I have just had the 5th service carried out which includes a coolant change , total cost £1300
I also decided to renew the warranty again £2950 ( increases by £500 next year as it’s over 5 years old )
My front undertray has a few scrapes , mainly from last years nc500 trip , so I decided to replace it. £300 ish
Mot £50

Before the car went in I did mention a couple of niggles, firstly I felt a little engine movement at times, asked them to check the engine/gearbox mounts for wear.
The drivers door strut was ever so slightly slower than the passengers.

During service, the car got a clean bill of health, apart from the issues I mentioned, they always comment how clean the car is, partly my ocd !!

The issues I raised were rectified under warranty , all engine mounts and drivers door strut replaced

Mcglasgow have been excellent as always

Fantastic! Wait till you read my update hehe

It's great to see you have almost double the mileage I have and trouble free aswell
Sorry to hear the cars hit you with a big bill , annoying.
I wonder if this corrosion was surface corrosion only that could have been cleaned up/re protected. I was in the other day and seen your’s on the ramp. Our cars are always in around the same time.
I actually sent you an email the other day, possibly went to junk.

Fantastic car and so stunning in VY.

Glad you kept hold of it.

Brucey bonus is that it is worth far more now than when you advertised it. thumbup

I guess you guys know Scott the service manager has departed...
Yes, I did speak to him before he left. I had a very good relationship with him, having had the car for almost 3 years he has always been my point of contact. If I ever rang he only ever needed my first name to know who I was and what car was mine.

I have zero complaints about Mcglasgow, they are part of the reason I have kept the car so long.

I would like to jump into a 720 , and they have offered me the demo they have in to see what I think.
They have a volcano yellow 720s at the moment which has sold, I wasn’t a fan of the interior colour and I do love the buckets in mine but I would have been very tempted to jump into it.

For the money I don’t think anything out there compares to a 540/570s.

Well it’s been a while and the mclaren has been hibernating since October and as always once a month through the winter I let it warm up then do 3/4 miles just to make sure everything is still moving etc, weather permitting of course.

This morning April 1st I decided to road tax it which came with a pleasant surprise ‘ as of May ‘23 I now lose the >40k surcharge so the road tax has dropped dramatically ‘, result.

So I decided to go a drive this morning since the sun is out here in the west coast of Scotland and I could tell it’s been a while, I pulled into the petrol station and parked at the wrong side of the pump ! , driving around reminded me how good it actually was, a few thumbs up from people as always.

I’m now into my fourth year of ownership with the Mclaren mileage now at 23’900 ! I have covered almost exactly 10k in it myself and it has been excellent, I normally do 3k P.A and I am on track for that again ( covered 1400 miles since July ), this may drop now though as I’m using the M4 quite a bit, going to Nurburgring in it later this month.

I have been watching the ‘ outlook of the sports series thread ‘ with interest as I’m once again feeling at a crossroads of what to do with it. One thing I do know is for the the money, you cannot buy anything anywhere even close to it, they really are amazing value.

Lots of chat about corrosion warranties over the last few months so I’m glad all my panels have been replaced. Although annoying at the time feel better for it now.

.

I have spent the last few months building / driving a clubsport spec F82 M4 to do some trackdays/Nurburgring trips and I went way down a rabbit hole with it, proper suspension/brakes, solid bushes, rose jointed arms etc so was good to do a little comparison this morning on how they both drive.

Not much else to report, few pics from a trip up Old Military road to Aviemore this week with a few mates in the M4, the weather was awful but it’s one of the best roads to drive in the U.K.

It’s a Track Pack right? Almost bought one before jumping to my 600LT.

Stunning. How do you find exhaust sound? Does it have the titanium MSO fitted? I’d recommend it.

Track pack cars well looked after like this one will be highly valued in future.
Yeah the car has the track pack, which is alcantara dash, carbon buckets , extra interior carbon ( centre console and door speaker surrounds ), super light weight wheels and the rear lip spoiler is 13mm higher.
The car doesn’t have the MSO titanium but does have the sports exhaust.

There was a couple of track pack cars for sale recently, you don’t see them very often then 2 pop up at once !

I advertised it a couple of years ago for 83k and had loads of interest in it, but decided against selling. I would like to think I could still get around that now.

Todays mileage 23’990 !
I was up at Mclasgow yesterday, well technically
I was at Parks BMW next door looking at something for the Mrs, McG had some nice looking cars for sale at the moment quite a mix too , there was a lovely chicane grey 765LT and 2 artura’s sitting there and in the flesh I actually quite like it.

There was a 676LT round the back I haven’t seen before , i presume in for servicing , I seen yours too Justin , I do still love the red !

I was out today for a while so grabbed a couple of pics , didn’t get too far but was nice being out in the sun, I doubt I will be using it much over the next few weeks, between work and a nurburgring trip in the M4 at the end of the month I don’t have much free time.

I’m now having reservations that the M4 is a little too low for the ring, tempted to raise it a touch, but as mentioned I’m almost out of time !, off topic I know, we will soon see…..

Well, as any mclaren owner will know, every now and again you receive a text/email from the local dealer saying they are looking for stock and in a moment of total madness I decided to reply and before you know it the car is gone !

To be honest part of me is already regretting the decision as I really do love the car, I’m coming up to 4 years of ownership and thought it was time to try something new, however I don’t really know what yet..

The car has been brilliant during my ownership and I covered 10k miles in total !, mileage now on 24k as I handed it over.

Did I lose a little money over the 4 years, yes of course, but it wasn’t too bad. Was it worth it, absolutely !

The car is now for sale at McGlasgow

Sad times to say the least !

Thanks for the update.

Do McGlasgow own the car now or have they offered you a trade price once it’s sold?
They have bought the car from me, it isn’t SOR, trade upon sale or anything like that.

A real shame to see you leaving the fold. Has it sold already?
Im not sure if it’s sold yet mate, I’m sure I will be back in another one at some point though. Probably sooner than later !

Sorry to see you leaving the fold.

Ive been toying with buying a 650 but have held off as access to my garage is very narrow, think Austin Seven width, just not sure about parking it outside on the drive. Not had any trouble in our area and well my Merc SL has lived on the drive for over 7 years now.

So AM43 does your car live on the drive with the BMW?
No mate, the car lives in the garage, I also never used it from oct- April. Not that you couldn’t keep it on the drive though, quite a few people do.

I suspect you’ll miss your McLaren, few cars get close to it.
I know, it’s one of the cars on my list !
