Having driven a 600LT and 720S back-to-back a couple of times I can see where McLaren can take the 765LT.

The 600LT is beautifully connected to the road and gives a real sense of confidence in the handling. It's probably over-used, but a big go-cart is an apt description. Compared to the 720S however, it feels relatively slow - you don't get that "Holy f*ck" sensation you do when flooring the 720S.

I'd agree that the 765LT doesn't need more power than the 720S but realistically was always going to have a bit more. The LT series isn't about having more power though - it's about being a more direct connection to the road and therefore being a more raw experience.

Quite a few 675's were specc'd upto circa £400k, so this wouldn't surprise me...........but jeez, you'd need balls and extra deep pockets to be handing over £400k to Mclaren for a new car..........and I'm a current owner!

Agreed. Would only consider getting into a Mclaren on the basis of a cracking finance/GFV deal (unlikely in short term, I know). Nothing to suggest the 765LT will buck Mclaren’s reputation for heavy depreciation, which I suspect will translate into 765 build slots and stock cars being available. I expect they’ll announce 765 spiders which will further compound the issue.

Well a fully specked Lt is going to be close to £400k, if you decide in twelve months time to try and pk against a new Lt spider version I can see the salesman saying something like this.

“Well nobody really wants the coupe version of the Lt, the spider has always been much more popular, we see your car today at £250k “

Fantastic used buy when it’s shed this kind of money, in such a short period of time, unfortunately for McLaren their piss poor residual values, is a result of over supply and disorderly marketing.

They are making 765 of coupe along with 765 spiders 15% of production for UK market, meaning dealers will have a total of around 230 cars to shift, thats around 28 per dealer so plenty to go round.

As I say love the car but would never buy new, I wish them the best of luck with the car.
