Went for £124,500 - with buyers premium, I think that's £130,500.

And being the McLaren forum and this thread is specifically about the Mclaren (s) as per the title it seem fine by me.

No doubt what the 600LT does shall get posted on here also.

Saves me trawling through that other thread reading about Porsche owners bleating about Gt3RS options and values or other stuff i have absolute no interest whatsoever in.

Maybe change the title to "Mclarens on Collecting Cars" or something?

When I read the title of the thread I understood immediately what it was about , no need for a title change or a redirection to another thread.

As per above, point being this thread could be about Mclarens on Collecting Cars not just the one 720s

Hopefully the owner who sold it didn’t pay the original list price of £260k.

Autocar chatted to Tom Hartley (the older one)

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/features/britai...

Tom Hartley said:
As well as the P1, there’s a 720S and a new GT. “I’ll never drive a McLaren again,” says Hartley with some feeling. “I suffer from claustrophobia and once got stuck in one because the central locking failed. I nearly had to bash my way out of the thing but fortunately was rescued. They’re not at all well made, and then there’s the depreciation. That 720S was about £240,000, but you could take it away now with fewer than 5000 miles on the clock for £150,000.”
Hyperbole aside, it's not a great statement about depreciation. Which presumably actually hurts his chances of selling them in future confused

£130500 at auction, that makes any £140k ‘proper’ car (dealer) seem cheap to me.

Don’t know, it still has warranty until 2021, so enough time for niggles/issues to show up before you have to decide if you want to extend it. What additional benefit do you get from a dealer (esp if it not a official McLaren one) - I guess transaction security might be one and some sort of comeback if it has been in a unreported crash (guess you could hopefully find that out prior to purchase though?)?

10k saved pays for 2 years warranty extension - nice saving if you can’t get it IMO

What I’d be more concerned about it the chip in the windscreen mentioned in the description as I recently had to pay to have one replaced - expensive buggers those windscreens

Each to their own on taste ( the car you chose itself is beyond reproach for sure) . My comment was the obsessive preaching about what is and isn't mandatory for a perfect build . You are ( seems) in the category or ....you want...you get. Perfect .
I however being a porsche menial....didn't get to spec an RS WP ...believe me if I had, I'd have gone mad on it

I'll stop the hijack and get off the thread , not being a McLaren owner (but enthralled about the idea )
