Hmmm... that comment is really patronising imo. I.e. a better class of person owns Mc’s. I.e. managers and business owners. Don’t worry we won’t let any of the plebs/non-owners in our club and we can just back slap each owner on our perfect choice of car. The fact that anybody can contribute and comment on Pistonheads is a great positive in my eyes. As always these days, too many people seem to take offence far too easily.
Patronising to who? I didn’t at all suggest better class of person. Maybe different mindset and attitudes, but not different class. The irony in your final sentence.
Patronising as in a ‘sense of superiority’. I.e you said most actual owners are business owners and managers and that demographic of person wouldn’t give you grief, I.e. only lower classes are posting negative comments (implied). Oh and you don’t have to take offence in order to make a comment on a post, as ironic as that may be. Anyway enjoy your car, which looks very nice

Have to say Gary, I didn't see it that way.

I have a mac, but due to my Facebook issues, I am not a member of the club.

I just seen the post as pointing out that there is none of the bullst that goes on here happens in the MOC due to the common interest instead of the faniels that are currently having a go on another thread about, in this case, new poster WW being rambolambo, whereas they usually prefer to post the same negative posts about McLarens.

We all know they depreciate, some have issues and some dealers are crap, so we don't need them to point it out as often as the can, hence why they generally get blanked on here.

The 'demographic part' I put down to WW as owning a company hence why the 'business owners' bit was tagged.

As I said, just how I see it.

I’ve been coming here for many years but post rarely. I don’t remember many posters as loud, opinionated, crass and self-publicising as a couple of the most prolific currently active.

Thank you. I’m really pleased with the paint.

McLaren threads usually do when the regular detractors turn up.

Is this what its always like ?
There is real nasty undercurrent from certain posters and seems to be aimed at McLaren or McLaren supporters from what I can see in just 1 month ????.
I've been told the general public absolutely love McLarens.
I've never had any issues with my ferraris or lambos and hopefully not with McLaren when I get one

Dunno what you’re on about - RL was as close as you describe as above but no longer on here. No one recently has come close. If anything some very sensitive people have been posting without actually contributing.....

So why don't you post something for other folk to comment on? - or just do you want to be on the outside looking inside?

You are confusing ‘classes’ with age and maturity. That’s my point about demographics.

Anyway, yet another thread derailed and wrecked by the usual trolls/baiters.

There are more than a few that used do that on the Mac forum, and unfortunately just lately they have appeared again.

I don't really have much to post, as I am lucky that my mac seldom has any issues, but I use it for lots of daily journeys, in all weathers with the miles seriously wracking up, so if my posts show to just one potential owner that you can have a mac as an all weather daily then great...i try not to be controversial or apparently post 'offensive remarks' until the usual suspects turn up and and be dheads with 'snidey' one sentance posts trying to antagonise.

On this topic, macs colour would not be my choice, but I really appreciate him taking time to post what he has done and how he has made the car to his personal choice...it has turned out looking stunning and I posted as such.

What i don't get is if something is not to your taste, why post a snippy comment outlining that? I am pretty sure if your friend decorated their house you would not turn up and say the paint choice is old hat or thats looks all 'Bradford'....certainly if you did in my house you would get a slap.

I am unfortunately ( or fortunately ) stuck in a long gone era where you only type something you would say face to face.

I am unsure why posters like 'Oaky' feels that a 'loud or crass' poster is more irritating than a posts like his that offers completely nothing at all to the topic.

I come on the McLaren forum as its what I have and its nice to read posts from others with a common interest.

The crap that (has started again) that goes on here does not happen on the Ferrari or Lambo threads...no snidey stuff, no baiters, just the usual bunch engaging...Still cannot figure why it is all good there but over here it attracts all of the belters.

Maybe that is another part of macs post to WW about the MOC that Garystoybox misinterpreted.

The McLaren forum is a very sensitive place however, the usual bhfests do make for amusing reading.

Nice colour scheme by the way MAC720, I respect the dedication to that and I bet it cost a small fortune.

Unfortunately owning a supercar of any origin is going to attract a fair amount of naysayers wanting to add there 2p, when it comes to McLaren they do depreciate more than most and they are woefully unreliable, bar the 650 which seemed to be the last well(ish) built McLaren before they turned the production taps on full and build quality went out the window, Non owners then come on and pick at this which imo is fair enough as it's a topic of conversation, they've obviously got the info from somewhere as it's widely documented (and everyone's got a mate of a mate who's had one with issues) and for some weird reason not seem on any other forum the owners get REALLY sensitive and all defensive, I've never understood this as regardless of your ownership it's an open forum, whether it's jealousy or genuine Interest fueling the discussion, surely as grown Men it should be easy to spot and avoid but it never happens.

Even if you are an owner with reliability issues your heckled, told to keep it quite and sort it with the dealer and not shout about it on the forums, it's honestly like a school yard, maybe if the usual suspects learnt to laugh along with it all, the forum would probably sort itself out as people would give up on the baiting as noone would bite.

Truth is despite being amazing drivers car the build quality and reliability is shocking, I've had 4 to judge that opinion before I'm shot down in flames!. I'm not even going to go into my latest woes with my current one but it's nothing short of a joke and having to wait three weeks for it to go into the dealer is pathetic.

Anyway might try and go out and enjoy it for the afternoon - IF i can get the st box started laugh

I really enjoy reading the posts from Mac720 and Willywaver very entertaining and a refreshing change from the usual guff about depreciation.

A number of jealous haters and others far too easily offended (maybe the same demographic) then inevitably come along and find it patronising or gauche and the thread is derailed.

If you find it offensive or gauche keep your weak pathetic opinions to yourself nobody forces you to read it and write snide comments, but do not slate those who make the effort to make a positive contribution without which there would be no forum.

Carry on regardless.
