Now THAT is a strip down.
You come to appreciate the strength of the mono cage carbon fibre tub. There’s a lot of visual distraction going on with suspension and engine pipe work, but without it, there is little by way of chassis metalwork, yet people walk away unscathed from some significant crashes. I’d rather have a crash in a 720S than any of its contemporaries.
Yup.

There is a feature out there about a couple of car journos that were out in a 570 on its US launch, and they put it over the edge of a huge cliff / hill.

Car was totalled but they had no injuries; highway patrol and recovery guys were gobsmacked.

McLaren must of been pissed, but it demonstrated how far ahead of the game they are that every model has a carbon tub.

I was thinking the same. Commendable when I am sure it is not a cheap job to be done this way vs value of car etc....
It’s a long term keeper so cost versus value isn’t that relevant to me. It is an April 2019 model with harness bar, 360 camera, track cameras + track software, extended paddles, and decent amount of CF. Soon to have P1 CF bucket seats installed.

I was about to post similar, as i can see usual suspects pitching up before long talking about values.

Guys out there spend stupid cash on Nissan GTRs etc getting them how they want.

This is no different.

Last year i spent a few quid tracking down the last few pieces of genuine Mac carbon that my heavily carbon laden 650 didn't have, such as scuttle panel and wheel arch liners...did it increase the value...nah...does it please me...yup.

In my opinion, the costs involved on what you are doing MAC are irrelevant compared to what you are creating.

To me, McLarens are the most visibly stunning cars currently out there, and it turns the volume to 10 if they are in a great stunning colour such as volcanoes, napier etc.

To have a unique flip paint 720 shall be worth every penny.thumbup

Good for you and glad to hear that it’s a real ownership experience

I need to wait 4 weeks for the paint to properly vent off solvents before any coatings, so will be put in the garage. There’s a chap in Swindon who does my detailing and PPF.

Quality. I used to love the TVRs in this, but then went off it a bit, as everyone seemed to be doing it, including Nissan! Now they're a bit more unusual, should be good. Did you go and look at the 675 that's for sale in something similar?

The induction pipe is amazing isn't it? Wonder if they use ram effect to negate it's length?
They do, the airbox intake is sat in the high pressure zone that runs across he top of the rear wing before it meets the leading edge of the spoiler.

There are gains to be had in that system too mind, we find some of our uprated airbox parts when we push power on!!

Cheers Ricky.

Is a "flip" different to a front to rear blend?

Darren Townsend at MSO has completed a Speedtail in what looks like a blend.

Yes they are different. MSO do a stunning blend named Velocity. This is a Velocity paint job.

It’s quick enough. Once the paint has settled, I’ll be dropping in for Jordan to do the PPF. You can stick it on the dyno and have a play.

Amazing effort, as said above. Make sure there’s plenty of pics along the way.

I just noticed this has been done by shore wraps in Glasgow Recently, granted it’s a wrap not paint. But gives an idea.

It already has a sports exhaust which is pretty loud. I had a Larini catback on my previous 720S. TBH, there isn’t much in it for sound when comparing the two. I may take a look at an exhaust created by Thorney. https://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/product/custom...

Yes! This is going to be superb.

Love the 720s and great to see someone "modify" it.

Brave bodyshop that's for sure.

Looking forward to seeing the results.

One is the electric parking brake

I'm not sure if you are trolling me?

The normal brakes are hydraulic, the parking brake is electric. For safety and in the event of hydraulic failure, the handbrake must be on a different 'mechanical' system. I would envisage that to integrate an electric parking brake into the hydraulic calliper would be more costly than having a separate one.
