FWIW, I understand OEM pads on the SuperSeries are a different spec. 4 track days (Oulton Park Int. low 2:’s) and going strong. Tyres were gone before the pads (ok I do enjoy drifting when I have the room - on quiet roundabouts as well smile)

I see...I certainly don't drive at 10/10ths on track so that probably helps...did two days at the ring last month and pads etc looked fine in terms of wear afterwards admittedly one day was v wet.
There's no issue with having steel discs put on a 570s when the ceramics wear out?
If your intention is to do regular as in 6-8 a year track day’s I would consider as a minimum upgrading the pads but better still change the rotors now and keep the OEM set up to go back on the car at sale time .

Hi looking to get into something more exotic currently have a 991 turbo and had a r35 before that, was deciding between r8 v10 plus or 540/570. i prefer the mclaren but want warranty due to all the horror stories ( are they really that bad ? ) i have seen a nice 540 for sale but has air filters and quicksilver exhaust but says it was mclaren warranty . Is this a case of yes it does have a warranty but it will be worthless due to the mods ? or do the mods have to be proven to be related to the issue in order to void warranty ? also both the 570 and the 540 are the same price but the 540 is 7000 miles 17 and the 570 13000 mile 16, is this expected or should the 540 be less ? in terms of differences is it pretty much just softer suspension 30 bhp less and a few very minor exterior differences
Hi, do you have a budget in mind? I may be putting my 17 plate Volcano Orange car up for sale soon - 5000 miles incl MSO Titanium exhaust. PM if you'd like more info, thanks.

I would recommend changing back to the factory air filters. Can't make that much different anyway. Then the engine should be warrantied OK, I would not want the heated discussions on cause if there was engine work needed otherwise. The exhaust is separate and as long as the standard cats are there and its only a cat-back system that won't affect any engine claims.

I’m currently in the market for a 570s also. Having just bought a 720s and selling my daily 997.2 turbo, I want another car I can happily use everyday without worrying too much about depreciation. I’ve driven 991 turbo’s and they are shockingly dull. So a nice 570s/650s would be ideal.

The 12c/650/675 range feel better built than my 720 which brings the appeal of the 650s abit closer.

The 540c’s definitely seem the easiest to use for daily commutes, even quite abit easier than 570’s somehow.

My only issue is that finance companies seem to be tightening up in the current climate, especially with mclaren GFV’s. I was given a 24k GFV on a 650 spider last week frown

Warranty wise, I’d only use MCL warranty. The others don’t seem competent enough imo. They are quite strict so would put it back to stock or find one which hasn’t been fettled with.

Ooh to add, I’d hold out until prices drop back down again. Bounceback loans and car traders with their brains up their arse have caused a slight increase in prices. 540’s+570s’s were on the market in the 70’s around may-June.

Lowest ever 540C I've seen was £75k in May but that went PDQ - lowest price now is nearer £78k with 15% MORE cars listed on AT.

For the 570S, lowest was £77k in June as you say but again lowest price now is £83k but 25% LESS cars available vs back then. During the year at the peak there were 45 advertised on AT, now there are only 18.

Talking about the coupe only.

I’m considering taking my 570 over (travel restrictions aside). I’m with NFU and the certificate states no cover on the Nurburgring.

Did you have insurance?

First couple of times I drove my own car there I bought trackday insurance but last time I insured was 2 yrs ago. I’ve done 4 days there uninsured now last year 2 days in my old V12VS . It’s a personal choice obviously, I had my car inspected by McLaren before the trip so had peace of mind that the car was ready for action. Also a well organized trackday means less traffic and much higher standards of driving so that mitigates risk too. With a car worth 85-90k you're looking at £400-500 per day for cover there and usually an excess of 3-5k.

I have been looking around June as lockdown was boring and I discovered for the price of a 991 you could get a 570s, but as you have said they have gone up quite a bit since then. Hopefully they will come down. Sure is strange times when a used car goes up by £10K in a recession but then 2020 has been a strange year so far
But still not sure I would go for one now as just the hassle of getting it serviced would mean a 500 mile round trip to McGlasgow every year plus the reliability still worries me. Yes you can get a warranty but what I found was repairs are not always quick and you are not even guaranteed a courtesy car never mind a loan Mclaren. So you could be stuck driving a boring Jag for 2 months whilst yours gets fixed and before you know it summer is over again
So now thinking back to plan A get a nice Porsche 911 or a Gt4 as they are about the same price now

For good reason.
If you're only doing it a few times each year it's a tricky bugger !
