Bought a 720s! My 1st "supercar" Wish me luck!!

It’s not the first time I have posted on PH my thoughts of 720S versus 650S. Chris Harris states that the 720S is the best supercar at the moment, but he has the driving skills to wring its neck and take it to a level that a mere mortal like me cannot. I don’t have the driving skills to properly compare the 650S with the 720S, but I do know that within UK road driving constraints, the smile-o-factor for both cars will be similar.
Don’t get me wrong, the 720S is a marvellous machine, but is it really that much more convincing than a 650S? 720S design is radical, but the 650S with its P1’esque front isn’t a pig.
I started to appreciate the 650S when I attended a MOC UK weekend jaunt around Wales last year. There was a chap named Neil with his Mantis Green 650S. I followed him most of the time, admiring the car and how it sounded.
We missed you on the Northumberland trip a few weeks ago, hope the move went well. Still loving my car, I’ve now done over 9000 miles in the 2+ years that I’ve owned it and thoroughly enjoyed every one of those. I would change to a 720 Spider but not at £100k cost to change. It’s hard to see a better value super car than a 650 at £100k ish. I still smile every time the air brake fills the rear view mirror😃

There are a few offered at just over £90k, but I think that there’s a really good chance that a serious cash buyer who’s ready to proceed could probably get one for just under that mark at the moment.
Mines has 32k miles and it still cracked 6 figures and that was a private sale cash buyer; i was not discounting even by a penny. There are some that have been advertised for ages.
Buy the right spec, right colour, history and Macwarranty and you should get a good one that will be easy to sell when the time comes
Don't be put of by mileage; as others shall back me up, cars with decent miles should have any issues ironed out and be maybe less ptoblematic to own.

Howdy Neil, trust you are well. The move to Lincolnshire went OK. A bit remote but away from all the COVID carrying masses.I would change to a 720 Spider but not at £100k cost to change. There you have it, evidence that I was keeping up at the rear - that’s me in the white 720S and Neil in his 650S.

When I asked my little boy what car I should get next, he was very clear "green one."I feel a little bit bad about not holding out to get him what he wanted, but when he saw the Storm Grey one he said "Batman car", so I think that that means that he approves.
Now I have to decide if his request that we go "Eating Donalds?" in it is going to happen.

Welcome to my life for the 9 months leading up to last! It’s fun though eh?
No!I know I should but I don't enjoy the selling/choosing/buying process........refreshing PH and Autotrader classifieds about five times a day.....viewing cars.......verifying history......test drives......organising the money.........dealing with buyers/dealerships.......the nervousness of "Have I bought a lemon?"........
I enjoy driving them.....the rest I could do without.......hence why I've had this one for 3.5 years now.......
I have nice memories of my time spent looking for the right car, not necessarily pre-owned. If you don't get stressed, then it's fun.
Last time for me was a 17 month search, started with a 911GT3 in mind, ended up with brand new 600LT with a 570S in the middle!

Not 100% sure, I feel like I'm spending my life on the classifieds at the moment!!
If you are still thinking supercar I suppose the usual suspects are McLaren 720S, Ferrari 488 or Lamborghini Huracan Performante.Mac is definitely the biggest bang for buck out of those but you might fancy a change.
I think its hard to look past a 720S at sub £150k as nothing else comes close in terms of performance and supercar looks.
600LT spider would be good if you enjoy convertibles and probably a different experience to 570S.
Not sure an Aston or Porsche would suit you from your posts on here
A lot of my friends have this theory that the reason I change cars so often is not because I get bored with them, it’s that I miss the hunt. I love spending weekends going around dealers looking at great cars, the test drives, waiting for one to give you “that” feeling and the excitement that comes after as you put everything in place to buy it. Then the wait for collection day, the sleepless nights taking you back to being 5yrs old on Xmas eve, then collection day!!!.... the journey there, the apprehension and then the moment as you are handed the keys!!!!
My stomach is going talking about it

Oh I get it, I really do...........I live on the classifieds, even when I'm not buying.......in the same way as my Wife is always on Rightmove! My stomach is going talking about it

Would love a Performante and have been looking for a long time but not seen one that would be perfect (Arancio, buckets, Gold Narvi's).
I've hankered for a MK1 Superleggara for years and a couple came up recently like the white one at the Elms but Dion and I can't agree on a price.
MK2 SL is the most likely candidate currently..........but that changes with the wind currently!!
Sorry for the highjack OP!!
Interesting to read the opinions about changing cars vs driving.
I prefer to really learn the car - and doing track days just once every 2-3 months means that takes a long time. Makes no sense to me to change from a 650s to a 720 or 675 if I still can't get the most out of the 650, which sits between a manual V12 modern dinosaur, and a stupendous-off-the-line EV daily driver. Better to keep them bucks going to the NGO...
