Take detailed picture of the rims, make sure it's all as clean as possible and that you have removed the old balance weights and residue, get them to confirm the wheels are unmarked, make sure they use plastic jaw protectors....etc etc etc
....and don’t sign the release until after the job is done....made that mistake once (guy said sign here and here and didn’t think / read).....all four wheels had minor scratches afterwards!AstonExige said:
So with Black Friday......full set.....fitted....... £715! Really happy with that. Only downside, its KwikFit I'd not normally use them, but just fitting tyres?...... what could go wrong?
You're a very brave man or you know your local Kwikfit guys are good.I wouldn't let them touch any of my cars, let alone a McLaren.
Hope it all goes well!
Passing off issues with the line ''well its hand built'' makes me itch a bit.
The fact there's an actual human present at every stage of the build should mean its nigh on perfect, especially in low volumes.
When its a mainstream manufacturer using mainly automation and only QC'ing every one in a hundred cars, you can see how things slip though. A machine will be happy with its work if the nut has gone on at the right torque, regardless of panel alignment.
The fact a human is allowed to go 'ah f**k it thats close enough' on a £300k car and the owners go, oh its the charm of being hand built, is a bit mad.
In every other industry, whether it be watches right through to furniture, the statement of hand built/finished is there to denote quality.

What a plate it has "MAC 720S"
I was rather lucky with the timing. I bought my first 720S in April 2019. I started looking for a plate in May 2019 and came across MAC 720S being released by DVLA in their auction - first time on the market. Was up against a couple of others bidding but managed to get it.MAC 720S said:

McLaren Manchester kindly sent me a rear plate with my private reg on Friday. However, when I put it on the car I just didn’t like the gaps either end because it’s only 5 chars long. Got a little bored today so got busy with the dremel, inspired by the plate designs on here www.fourdotdesignerplates.co.uk
Jury is still out on whether I prefer it. A rectangle plate doesn’t really line up with the rear end,,,, I don’t know. I’ll leave this new one on for now and see how I feel when I just catch a glance of it...
Great post, keep it coming. I can't imagine having one of these without the warranty, so it's £600 pcm then just enjoy the car. It's a bit rich for me but great to read. Quick update. The excitement around this car isn't subsiding. I'm not one to overly gush over cars, I've had some nice ones and yes those first few weeks or so, maybe a month or so, you're buzzing, but I'm over 3 months in and I still get those butterflies when I think about. Couple of times now I've just been out for a drive on my own, 2-3 hours, just driving for no reason. Never done that before. That is down to the fact it is so fantastic, of course, but its because I enjoy it on so many levels. I enjoy the acceleration, the cornering, how well it brakes, but then even just in traffic, seeing everyone turn to stare, take pictures, that feeling of being a rockstar, then even getting in and out, the doors and that theatre. And all this without feeling like you are shouting look at me, like you would with a Ferrari or Lambo, I think that is unique across the supercar brands, that class Mclarens. My opinion anyway. So still totally smitten, every journey, no matter what it is, feels like an event.
Anyway, fell like I should treat it so treated it to a new set of new boots. Picked up a Black Friday bargain on a complete set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. £730 including fitting Then managed to sell the PZero's, with 5.5 - 6.5mm of tread for £200. Haven't had a chance to properly test them yet but from previous experience of moving from PZero's to PS4s (on my FType) it will be a very well worthwhile upgrade for just over £500
And what is a post without a couple of pictures of it, especially as it is so photogenic!!

Really enjoyed reading this thread. Has got me contemplating hard whether to make the jump into one of these cars, particularly considering that the value of them is so impressive. I've seen cars at £130,000 now, but my head is still telling me not to jump as, like OP, I'm not a millionaire and am massively concerned about depreciation and running costs... On the other hand, life is short and it's only money, right??!!
