Bought a 720s! My 1st "supercar" Wish me luck!!
Discussion
Have you been looking at my browsing history? Was literally looking at flooring like that last night!
I've been doing up my garage in lockdown and the floor seems a next logical step.
Also - I have two garage doors and with the width of the 12C Im thinking a single big roller door is the answer - particularly as my next planned steed is a 720. I think it is wider with the mirrors folded than the 12C with mirrors folded (and that is tight enough).

That makes such a difference and looks ace! I plan to do the same to mine - I've just got the grey breeze blocks currently which look a bit drab. Do you have a link to the tiles? I assume they offer different patterns?
I bought them from a company called Garage Kings. Friendly to deal with and delivery was fast. As for patterns, they have different colours?AndM said:

It’s a tight fit getting through a single door, about 10-15mm space by the wing mirrors (when open) Its ok though, reversing in is way enough, the visibility is very good in the 720.
Having said that, like you I’d love to convert it to one single door. It’s not a small job though and I’ve had guideline costs ranging from £3,500 to £5,000 inc the door.
Did similar to smarten it up. Made cupboard fronts out of MDF to cover tool chests etc, plaster boarded the walls, ceramic tiles to floor at 99p each and ditched the two doors in favour of a roller shutter door. Obviously heating, hi-fi, beer fridge and seats to just sit and look at it

Great job!
How much was the garage door conversion and are the tiles any paricular spec to take the weight of the car?
Ahh cheers, ceramic tiles are fine if put down right, though I wouldn't use a jack on them directly and put small piece of MDF down first underneath. Some use porcelain but are very expensive by comparison. Door with remote controls was £950 inc vat delivered. Cut tiles in half to create waterproof upstands around the edges. Did work myself, easy enough. Great job!

I was tempted by the porcelain tiles, they look fantastic. The reason I like these plastic tiles is they go down really easily (no adhesive or grouting) and can just as easily be taken up, so if you need to replace one or move home.... Also, if you leave the door open and some rain water gets in, you don’t die when you walk back in! (They have open groves to let liquid through)
Good value too, my garage is just under 30sqm, with edging and delivery just £715.
This picture you can see the groves.....

Totally get the logic and for that kind of money it's a no brainer too, looks really really cool.
I bet those grooves are especially handy if you've taken the Mac out in the wet, the amount of water the doors hold is sometimes enough to take a bath in

I am not in the same league with cars, I have a 2017 718 Boxster S, but I share your child like attitude when it comes to buying, owning and driving a car that is considered nicer than the hum drum. Everything you said about the nervous wait the night before picking it up, trying not to use the motorway on the way home, going everywhere and anywhere that first weekend I can relate to as I was the same with every Porsche that I have owned. I have a great relationship with OPC Bolton and the dealer posts little gifts and invites me to various events etc. It makes the whole owning experience so much better,
It makes a refreshing change to hear such enthusiasm and I wish you many happy miles in your 720S.
PS The peaks is my playground too. One day I may see you gaining on me in my rear view (but only on the straights )

Before (we'd already done the single garage door)
After
Just read the first 10 pages, excellent read I must say.
I have a manual F355 spider with a tubi exhaust which I absolutely adore, big Ferrari fan if I’m honest!
However, I do think your macca looks incredible, to the point where, the 458 you compared it to at the beginning of the thread didn’t come off very well, not sure if it was just a poor photo, but yes, great decision and the original owner clearly had taste.
