I bought a 34k mile 570S last year and you genuinely wouldn't be able to tell it had done the mileage in 3 years. The interior showed no wear at all and it drove perfectly although I hadn't driven a low miler to compare.
I got rid 6 months later at 36k miles and I'd say that selling will be the challenge as most people want low miler's so offers will be much lower as the potential buyer pool will be that much smaller.
I lost £10k on my car when I sold to a trader who then auctioned it and I believe ended up with money back.
You did well imo...

Only losing 10k when buying retail & selling to the trade in 6 month's is par for the course at this level.

My car smile

Phenomenal car & only selling as replaced with a spider.

If you can afford a 150k 5k miler then I'd probably go for that, however I can't see my car losing any more in percentage terms than any other 720.

Alistair knows the car & previous owner well, it's been really well looked after & has only ever had a cracked windscreen replaced under warranty.

Personally I think at 125k there's literally nothing out there that can touch it smile
Many thanks for the insight. Didn't expect to find the owner on here.

This one caught my eye too! Mileage wouldn't put me off tbh, I bought my 570s at 17k and am on 23k now my car had the front suspension arms replaced due to perished bushings so maybe that's something that these need done after that kind of mileage? All covered under warranty though...what else comes near that 720S at the price...nothing!

The mileage wouldn’t put me off either they like to be driven , historically I normally do 3-3.5k per year In a weekend car. I done 3k in in the first 6 months in the mac, Now on 17k. As long as you have a warranty it’s a no brainer.

19k miles is better than a same age car with under 1k miles. You want one that's been driven regularly, not left standing for weeks/months.

Also makes it likely that issues will have been taken care of by the owner (see workshop records).

I've had my attention grabbed by a keenly priced 2018 720s at Alaistair Boles. Nice looking car, nice spec' but 19,000 miles. My past experience is that low miles don't always translate into lack of trouble, particularly where issues with lack of use rear their heads. And you could argue that it should have had all the problems sorted. But this would be a bit of a step up for me.

Thoughts? Talk me out of it.
That’s really not high mileage for any car that you are actually buying to use.

This car is a bargain. And the owner is known on here and speaks very highly of the car. This needs to be bought quickly. It’s got very little to lose at this price.

Also 19k miles.....high mileage?! Come on. It’s barely run in.

Ferdip I remember your post about buying this and you have done very well on it. Good job!

Well what with the car being away for two weeks for a check over and then the lockdown, never did get around to doing anything about this . Anyway, looks like it's gone now. Anyone here buy it in the end?

I hope someone did! I think with 720's, anyone who's in the market for one knows every car that's for sale anyaway.

There is very little choice in used 720s and virtually none for new at the moment. Nice spec 720s sell almost immediately.

Mileage is not an issue for a Mac and In fact as well documented they do better, like most cars, being regularly driven.

With winter approaching there is likely to be even less choice with only lower spec and or less popular colours available.

It does bode well for future residuals with more folks looking than cars available.

My MSO Burton Blue 720s was almost £300k list and was in my view overpriced. I think a 2018 good spec car, less than 10,000 miles on or around £140-150k is about right imo.

For sure. All the annoyances should be sorted. Right now 720s only suffer from a couple of regular problems, accumulators and the inlet internal diffuser coming unglued (might make a right mess). First, Mclaren has new number parts, but still, not hopeful about them, as plenty of iterations were already made, but see it as a luxury ride tax, car will work great, just ride like a gt3 on normal mode, regardless of mode.
Second is simple, hard to get the inlets but Mclaren changes them under warranty, but you have to be a bit creative, because mac dealers will not go there on will. If you are handy, all it needs is the diffuser welded to the inlet (plastic). Just a host of issues avoided towards the future.

All the rest is just an attentive eye on fluids and potential leaks.

See the maintenance records to see what was changed (windscreen glew, the door upward windows, the coolant pipe campaign, the fuel tank foam bit campaign, etc etc).

My 12C had 40k on it and was perfect
But expect that £125k to be worth £80k in 3yrs
3 years on, that 125k is still worth £110k.

Trade price on a 35k mile 720S prob not much more than £90k, certainly not £110k

And that’s only due to the post covid boom which obviously in 2020 was not predicted

Why you comparing trade with retail, that doesnt justify your post, a 720s will never be £80k.

Why on earth would anyone buy a car to drive it??? Why on earth would you contemplate buying a car which someone had actually driven?!?! Are you mad man? You should only buy cars to have them be garage queens!

Aka, buy it. Unless like me you have a bit of a OCD obsession with cars being new or like new.

Because most people don’t want to sell their 720S privately
