Haha wondered how long it would be before someone suggested going Italian....

For my budget I just couldn't bring myself to spend that sort of money on a F430 or Gallardo when you could get a Mclaren which is at least one if not two generations more advanced.
Granted it comes with added running costs but from a driving prospective I don't think either would come close.

Each to their own mind, all lovely in their own way
It’s similar to the one that I just bought. The only reason that I didn’t view this one is that I don’t know the dealer, and I hadn’t seen any recommendations of this one.

When buying, I decided that I needed a McLaren warranty, which now costs £5,400 per year. That is an awful lot of money, but as the alternative is paying retail price for any work that needs to be done, I decided at the eleventh hour to go for it.

I am extremely happy with my car, but I haven’t driven it all that much yet. It’s pretty, but also has a lot of grills, nooks and crannies, and at the moment I’m still at the point where I can’t bear to think of leaf mulch being blasted into all of those hard to reach places.

When I extended the warranty on my now departed 650 about 6 weeks ago, it was the day before it turned 5 years old and cost £3900, but if i had purchased the next day I was told it was £4950 as it was in the 5yr + category...

Did the £5400 not include the inspection fee to get it 'back' into the warranty?

If not thats definitely different from MacGlasgow price for super series...

No, it was for the warranty only. No new inspection was needed.

I'm surprised it's not been mentioned on MOC if prices have gone up ~10%.

looks like a great car, missing some CF esp front splitter and rear diffuser / bumper.

As has been said CF can be a curse, I cracked the CF splitter on my 12C and was quoted £4k. Eventually bought a used one for £600 and fitted myself in 20 mins. All the CF can be bought used and easily put on but its expensive if broken. Only useful for kudos points and resale.

What matters with a McLaren is continuous McLaren warranty and service history. I would only buy from McLaren, Alastair Bols, Graham Davidson (at Autolounge) or direct from an owner from the owners club.

Brilliant cars, wait for the spec and colour you want and pay more for it if you need too and make sure it has the official warranty. I waited 2 years fr a 675LT in my perfect spec!

I enquired only last Thursday the price for the warranty extension on sports series and that was confirmed as still the same price as it was before...around £2850.

It was the same service manager whom 6 weeks ago told me to extend the day before to save just over £1000; again he did not mention any warranty price increase then.

When did it increase by 10%?

As above, I paid £5,400 last month on my 650s

Paid £4,981 renewal in late August for my low mile (was 7,500 but now 8,750 after the Owners Club Northumberland Tour!) 2012 model 12C coupe.

Have owner for over 2 1/2 years (since the car had done 759 miles) and would be out of pocket if had not been under McWarranty.

They noticed a slight oil weep from the V controller (cam timing control) at this years service so replaced the whole unit along with also replacing the timing cover gasket all under warranty.

Expensive cover BUT total peace of mind!

It has to be worth asking between the dealers in that case for a best price if there is a £400+ spread in what they are charging.

Definitely not the MacGlasgow price I was given upon renewal.

I just called B&C who confirmed current price is still £4,981.

I didn't think this was something that was supposed to vary between dealers - I'd be calling and asking why it cost you £5,400 - it really shouldn't have.

It was explained to me that they make next to zero on the warranty cost as it is a 3rd party.. at £4950 ( or £3950 as I paid for ~5yrs old ) was what they pay and couldn't go any lower as it meant they were contributing to the cost.

Sounds like a cheeky wee mark up.

My McLaren warranty was £5,400 on 6-11-20 at New Forest. Fortunately included in price of the car. (12c) I think £450 of that may have been the inspection.

Have you seen the 650 spider for sale at Woodham Mortimer cars in Chelmsford.
Looks stunning but I need a quiet colour, as much as the brighter colours define the lines I'm a bit self contiguous of drawing even more attention to myself.

Cheers for flagging it though, I hadn't seen it previously

The 16 plate Volcano Red 650 spider for sale at Scuderia Prestige looks fantastic value for money.

All the must have options plus all of the external carbon including the £6k MSO carbon diffuser.

At £89k it has dropped from the £102K advertised price from 4 weeks ago.

Most likely a little squeeze further on the price and you might get half of the £4k warranty cost off also.

21k mileage should not be of any concern with the full Mac history...any niggles should be resolved ages ago.

I’ve recently started to look for a 650s spider and spotted the volcano one at Scuderia and also a black one at mcAscot. Has anyone any knowledge of either of these cars? Am on a strict budget but may be able to make an offer on them and see what happens.
Thanks.

The 650 is mine, I’ve had it since new pretty much . It’s been well looked after, I’m a member of the Mclaren owners club and also have a 675LT. But I won’t drop much lower as it’s already a good price

What specifically do you want to know, full service history with Mclaren and John Thorne.
MSO carbon fibre rear diffuser and Fabspeed cats for a more throaty engine noise. I’m assuming you have seen it and the bodywork is in very good condition.

Ty, sorry, not been able to view the car yet as i'm based in central Scotland and we've sadly been in tier 4 up here for the past month or so...... - was looking to ascertain what non service work undertaken on the car?, any warranty claims for anything?, any bubbling on any of the panels at all?, is there a warrany with the car? - many thanks.
