I believe that the paint composition / supplier was changed to address the problems with fading on volcano colours, not corrosion issues.
If you take your car in for bubbling / corrosion, McLaren don't paint the panel - they replace it, and paint that. I don't know if the same problems occur on the new panels / paint.
To my knowledge, my car has never suffered from this issue. It did have a full respray courtesy of McLaren last year due to fading and looks fabulous, so I hope it's not an issue I suffer from.

Would be good to know if the new panels are expected to prevent the original issue reoccurring.

As far as I am aware there have been no instances of the replacement panels coming back with corrosion, the dealer informed me that it would not happen again.
Some cars must have new panels fitted to their cars now for longer than the originals were.
Thanks, very reassuring to know. Assuming any panels which suffer from this will corrode within 10 years, this issue should be a thing of the past now or very soon. Some cars must have new panels fitted to their cars now for longer than the originals were.
