Can anyone confirm if there is any reason to not get the Ctek lithium charger?
Also if the boot is left open to charge it , can it lock or does that cause any issues with charging, or boot light staying on?

McLaren charger is just a rebadged Ctek
I leave my frunk wide open when on charge. Reminds me that I need to disconnect. It will still lock with frunk open. The frunk light turns off after a few minutes when the car goes to sleep. In nearly 2 years of ownership, never had an issue when charging with frunk open.

You'll get a buzzer noise indicating that the frunk is open - also same noise if internal cubbyhole in armrest is open (720S). Just ignore it.

You can also close the frunk on the latch, so it doesn't crimp the wire but can't be opened without pressing the frunk release button, that tends to be how I leave mine

sorry to hijack this thread...

my OEM charger is broken (stop working after every 2 or 3 days; need to press reset to get it working again). i wonder if i could just use a normal CTEK charger, which is designed for lead acid battery? or i must buy the charger designed for lithium ion battery which is used by Mclaren cars. Thanks!

I believe you cannot use a standard Ctec charger you must use the one for lithium batteries.

Am sure someone will be along soon to confirm.

I use a Ctek lithium Xs on the Mclaren and a Ctek MXS 10;0n my other cars.

Correct, the Ctek lithium Xs is the model you will need and also it doesn't need resetting every couple of weeks like the OEM version seems to need to keep it alive.
