My 570s Spider in Ventura Orange may soon be on the market.
One of my desired colours - don't want to queue jump but do send details - you can't be emailed but can email me (see profile).....Chappo1 said:
Cheers, thanks for your interest - will be decided shortly whether to sell or not, dilemma is to keep this or the Exige.
Be interested to hear your comparisons between the two. One of my reasons for going for a Mc is that it's supposedly like an Elise, only with some power.....Ah, if only we could test drive at the mo!
I was going to go for an Exige 430 cup after selling the 570 Track pack but I have decided to stay with Mclaren for another year.
I think if you are coming from a Lotus into a Mclaren you will be very happy with the performance and also driver involvement, however if you plan to do a lot of track days stick with the Lotus I think. The cost of consumables will be miles apart, tyres/brakes/servicing.
You won't be so happy with the noise after a v6 variant Lotus. The Mclaren sounds great in its own way but it can't compete with the Lotus.
The build quality is also a step up with the Mclaren.
Pick the right tool for the job I guess.

Jumping back to warranties, i have just been told by an independant with a car i am viewing with a Mclaren warranty, that is trasferable by the old owner to new, is this correct, i thought the warranty was with the car, not the owner?
A dealer could refuse the warranty if they knew that a dealer had sold the car and not an individual. If buying from an individual you need to have a certain amount of time left on the warranty, 3 months I think. Then apply to have the warranty transferred using a document.

Warranty is not transferable by an independent dealer, if they own the car.It can only be transferred if the car is on SOR, even then they have to transact it as a private sale so that the warranty can be transferred.......not sure where the buyer would stand then with their consumer rights if you had issues with the car?
It can be transferred with a private sale or a car bought from a McLaren dealer
Things have slightly changed now regarding transferring the warranty.
It used to be simple enough on a private sale, but I am guessing that they caught on that 3rd party dealers were sneaking through the transferring the warranty on cars they were selling.
Now in order to transfer the warranty it must be submitted to a McLaren dealer to scrutinise, and has to be submitted to the warranty provider by the Mac dealer in order to start the transfer process; the warranty company shall then call the owner whose name the warranty was taken out for the £42 payment to complete the transfer.

In a nutshell, Exige for the track, McLaren for the road. My opinion obviously. Both absolutely brilliant cars, hence my dilemma. McLaren is definitely more refined, but is that a plus?

Clearly, you should sell me the Mc, as I'll look after it well, and you can enjoy the Lotus without worrying, knowing the Mc is in an ex-Lotus home too.....

On the subject of "570s questions" as it's not worth starting another thread for this question ...!
Is there any significant improvement in the B&W audio over the standard one? Or are they both just varying degrees of rubbish!
There seem to be a lot of post launch edition cars that have pretty much the full non-cosmetic option list apart from the B&W. Obviously the LE cars included it with the luxury pack.
Personally, I really like the look of the B&W speakers through the door grilles but if there's no other benefit then it's probably not worth worrying whether or not a car has it!
