Give the lad a chance. Whilst Ive been waiting to draw down my pension fund and researching a supercar purchase for 12 months the original plan was to buy a 720S spider until I was side tracked onto a 675LT spider about 6 weeks ago now.In that time I think a total of 5 have been advertised and Ive seen 2 of them. I don't want a green import from a dubious dealer and nor do i want a white one. Every Mclaren dealer has my details and knows of my interest as does Alaistair Bols yet I'm still drawing a blank.
I really want a car for the summer and we are almost into July and to make matters worse a McLaren dealer has offered me an incredible deal on a 720s spider they have to register by month end to hit their quarterly target so i'm in a right quandry now.
Do I wait for a 5 yr old used car to my spec to suddenly appear out of nowhere or for pretty much the same price do i buy a brand new unregistered car with 3 yr manufacturers warranty and hopefully at least 1st years depreciation covered.
I had been talked around to the used 675LT based on it potentially appreciating but TBH its not really driven by the finances for me. Whether one loses £20k or another gains £20k its not going to break the bank.
I'm starting to think the 720s spider might be more comfortable and practical for me as i'm only getting older and no boy racer.
God knows what decision I will make and its not a straight choice unless a suitable 675LT arises in the next 2 days now.
I could end up going full circle with this as I just want a car now rather than all this procrastinating

I know colour is subjective but If I could of handled everyone gawping at me in such a in your face colour I would certainly of bought it at that price. I think as a short fat bald 60 yr old a little more restrained colour suits my profile

If the owner of the CC 675 had just undertaken the service and put the McLaren warranty on it, it most likely would of achieved more than the £6500 cost to undertake in the auction.

I have waited for the right 675 spider to come up for a long time and almost went the 720spider route out of frustration, but perseverance paid of and I am dead excited to get my hands on it next week!
Prices are all over the place; was really interested in the heavy spec blue 720 spider; it was at Ascot in February for around mid £180's, then a specialist dealer at £200k and now another specialist dealer at £225k.
Its surprising McLaren dealers are doing deals as they have very little stock; order a 720 spider now and it will be early next year before it arrives.
This can only help residuals....finally.

Just out of interest how long did you have to wait for this one to tick all the boxes ? Were you prepared to compromise on anything and if so what would you have forfeited ?
I guess with a used car its a matter of luck what comes to market and when.
Do I roll dice and wait or do I seize a great deal on a new car this month.
£60k off list seems like a great saving and too good a deal to be true.
Got the feeling it was a one off deal and a case of being a cash purchaser in the right place at the right time

You will really enjoy the car it looks amazing in green.
Remember to use it in sport / sport with a short press of the esc button so dash display says "ESC DYN" this will mean the car is not torque restricted and if you thought it was fast before its just crazy in this mode. There is still a degree of ESC just in case. The most amazing thing about the 675LT (in addition to the steering, good looks, usability, 36mpg, lightening fast gearbox, air brake, ride comfort) is the amount of traction it has both off the line and in corners, its unreal for a 666bhp RWD car, Have fun.

It seems AB sells cars for pretty near the same as what private sellers are asking, but the level of prep and standard he puts out is 1st class, and its the same warranty that McLaren use for extending the warranty.

Quick technical question - obviously the car is a carbon tub. But I wonder if the bottom of the tub is open to the ground beneath it or is there a cover hosing protecting the bottom of the carbon tub from grounding out - I only ask as it’s such a low car I can’t see how without a cover, the tub wouldn’t get ruined ?
Also are there any good videos that show you how to work the Sat Nav, work the lift , etc - general walk around of the features.
Re lift from the stalk - is it just two quick pushes upwards or do you have to press the little button on the end of the stalk first - can’t seem to do it.
Oh tyres - can anyone give me an idiots guide to the varying types.
& lastly - warranty - been quoted £5,400 I think + £240 for check up - 12 months (waive £240 if done with service) that’s bloody expensive - any other warranty products none McLaren that are as good / better value.
Charging - I assume charge up whenever you aren’t using it - 24/7 ?
Last one - on a Spider the engine lid is very open and then there is open mesh above the titanium exhausts. When cleaning I assume water just falls through the engine lid air vents and engine lid mesh and it’s fine as it drains through - or does one have to be really careful not to get excess water into the engine housing.
Assume any water that does get in there should be dried off the carbon engine housing or the heat of the engine will evaporate the water causing water ring staining to form ?

On the nose lift, just watched the SmokingTyre vid on Maserati MC20 and they mention McLaren nose lift being slow and only working when the wheels aren’t moving! Is that you problem? HTHs

Hi David thanks - no lift does work on the move if accessed from the menu and also from the stick I believe - I think you have to sprinkle it with angels tears to get it to work off the stick or you have to not be a complete and utter plonka like me Edit Thorney seems very busy but a walk around answering general Qs like yours would be interesting.
