.....have a Mc I'm sort of interested in. I know about his "checkered" history, but as a car emporium, how are they? I'll have it under a Mc warranty.....

on a side note, prices seem to have risen about 10% since I last properly looked, and am wondering how transient this peak is - it doesn't help that my trade-in may have e risen in value by 10% as well as that's only worth £3.5k smile

Bought my Diablo through him and the car was as advertised and no issues. Service from Amari himself and his team were spot on. Car was prepared to a very high standard and agreed p/x on my Superleggera was no quibbles. Other friends have dealt with him and were more than happy.

just had the strangest conversation with someone selling cars, ever.

Amari have a car I'm interested in, but it has a premium for low mileage (and as I';m going to drive it, it's not one I want to pay), it's had a strange wrap in the past, and was a t the very top of the market in price. I chatted to him (Amari), saw a video of it, and made a low but fair offer - to be told no - which is fine.

They have now dropped the price by about £6k but not enough to bring it to my level, so I emailed offering a bit less than they want, but a bit more than last time.

He rang me, and was very polite, but clearly told me that my offer was too low, and the price was the price - again, all fine - so I said no worries, but I wasn't looking to pay that much.

At which point the conversation took a surreal turn. He told me he'd bought it for £90k and wanted at least £30k from it, so wasn't going to drop it any more - that he always bought his cars low and sold them high which was why he had 30-odd cars ij his own collection m, lived in a £10m house and wore a £1m watch......

Quite how this Is supposed to make me spend lots of money with him is beyond me, and whilst I'm all for dealers making some profit, this seems to be taking the mickey. On the plus side, he's polite, clear, and very straightforward!

Are the cars he sells generally the going rate for the market, or are they typically above the general going rate? If he;s buying cars then trying to get another 30-ood % profit out of them it makes me wonder how his negotiating tactics are to get those cars! That or he;s very very good at rpeparing the cars and puts money into relative shonkers to bring them up to marketable condition tha justifies the price.

As for bragging about his life, each to their own I suppose!

I think that was his way of saying you're too poor for him to want to do business with you.

Funnily enough whenever I’ve bought a car , it’s about the right car at the right price to me .

Not really interested in where the owner lives ,what he drives or how much he thinks he’s worth.

seems a ludicrous profit margin...in my experience 10-15% seems the be the ballpark so assuming he has paid 90k if he sold for £99-105k that would cover what most other dealers would want. Bragging about his house/watch etc is crass at best not sure how its supposed to convince you to bend over tho!

smile yes I am aware of the history and interesting details - we don't need to go into those here. I was just very superprised by the very odd approach of "you buy it if you want it, and look at the massive profits you'll be giving me".....
