Quite happy with the coupe ride but i really want a spider, anyone know if they changed damper/springs for the spider making the ride worse, cant imagine it made much of a difference, even if they did but worth asking..
I was told by a McLaren engineer that the suspension on all the LT models, 600/675/765 is subtlety different from coupe to spider to compensate for the slight reduction in torsional rigidity, that apparently is non existent. So there is a difference, I doubt you would notice though, my 675LT is like a limo in comfort mode.

Thanks, talking with Mclaren this afternoon, there was mention of a new model coming that might suit me better tbh, depending on what the cosmetic tweeks are, it could well give some LT looks and power but with the softer edge of the 720, which would be bang on for me i think, though the spider would come later i’d imagine, which means a longer wait.. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a42757868/mclare...

Have to say I am looking forward to pics of the 'face-lift' and seeing how much has been borrowed from the 765.

I think it shall be a corker of a car.

Sorry to hijack the conversation, has anyone jumped from 600LT to 765LT? Thoughts?

They made it very slightly softer to make it better on the road. The coupe is therefore better suited to track.

This suits my usage, which is 95/5 road/track.

Its funny you bring that up, other way round.. i’ve never really looked at the 600lt closely but there was one sat alongside 765lt i tested the other day and on looks alone, i thought it actually looked better, much prefer the front end (have never liked my 720 from the front)

So much so, i’m going to have a go in one, maybe consider a tuned spider, do any of the tuners like Thorney offer warranty alongside engine work? Loss of hydraulic suspension has me concerned though.

so possibly going backwards silly and spending some excess on this DeTomaso which i’ve fallen in love with.. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202212222...

Ideal car? 600lt spider body, 765lt exhaust/noise, 720 suspension set up and sound deadening, senna seats.

Thorneys warranty covers their tuning.

Thanks, interesting.

Any thoughts from people on the ride quality of the 600lt vs the hydraulic ride of the 720?

I cant offer anything useful to this thread.

But the 765lt is a sensational looking thing. Surely we are reaching the limits of safe tractable power for RWD supercars now. No doubt the 765 will be putting out over 800bhp in reality.

Oh and as i dabble in plates a little I do have MCl 7S0S number plate so I hope the rumours are accurate on the 720 replacement smile

I had a 600LT Coupe which aesthetically as mentioned above is probably the Pick of the Sports/Super Series.

If I’m completely honest the 600LT was a fantastic track car but was limiting on road, bottoms out too easily, a harsh ride and noisy.

In contrast my 720s is a fantastic road car and not too shabby on track. Horses for Courses really !

Exhaust sound and engagement can only be worse on 765LT vs 600LT.

Nothing can beat top mounted exhaust exit with plenty of pops and bangs, not fake farts like Porsche GTS though. wink

Can't beat the top exit exhaust sounds in a 600LT Spider. Love that.

But you would be surprised how close the 765LT Spider is to it, as the exhaust itself it louder, and although further away, it is still angled upwards.

its the one thing that made me keep the 720 tbh & shines above the Aventador & GTC, so to loose it on the 600LT probably rules that out, noise wise nothing beats the V12 in the Lambo so i wouldnt judge a Mclaren on that too harshley, the 765 is a big step forward in the sound department over the 720, on a par with the GTC (which isnt brilliant either, imo)

Lambo sells on noise, Macca on ride and handling and i have to keep that in mind, if & when i move away from the 720, didnt think the ride on the 765 was that much worse than the 720 tbh, more noise on a longer trip? Dont know.

Like many, i think i’ll hang on to see if they do something with the front end styling with the 750 for now, might try a 600lt but from what you say, probably too much of a compromise on ride without the hyd. Suspension.

Test drove 720 and 600LT Spider on consecutive days. Went for the LT. 720 more rapid in a straight line. LT provides more drama and more of an occasion to drive, especially with the top down. Fabulous exhaust sounds, makes you become an obsessive tunnelhunter biggrin

However, Aston V12VS with full Ti exhaust and secondary cats removed is on another level !!
