Anyone have an outlook for old Sports Series range?

The first 570S on the list was mine which I sold this week…a bit less than what I wanted and definitely under my ask but we are talking a few K’s here so no biggie. It had FSH and balance of MCL warranty without which it seems it would have been v hard to move on . I had quite alot of interest in the car but defo no interest at the ask for what it’s worth. I’ve been following the 600LT mkt closer and the white Apex car at £142k and the black one at £137k both started £10-12k higher 2-3 months ago so. There are quite a few 720S Coupes and 600LT Spiders hanging around the 150-155k level now but not shifting. I think really well specced cars at sensible prices are moving but a lot of the main dealer prices are pure fantasy out of the gate. Unless they get lucky with the right buyer at the exact right time whos after a particular colour regardless of overall spec alot of stock is hanging around.
interesting to hear that. so the final sale ended up being lower then that listed priced of £79k?how did you find the buyers in the market, was it a lot of lowball bids ? not serious people or?
Was advertised at £78k but didn’t get anyone prepared to pay that, I found the semi serious /serious people phoned me up whereas the complete time wasters emailed typically looking to swap for other cars that I had no interest in even if I had been up to swap ( a Bentayga for example). I had some good chats with potential buyers but then no follow up…I was also working against the clock a little as I wanted to sell the car before the warranty transfer deadline which is 3 months before warranty ends. It wasn’t a bad experience tho as I had some reservations about selling a car of that value privately but I managed to find a honest buyer. Even tho I got a bit less than I was hoping it was still way better than what WBAC (62k!!) or a trade in from a main dealer would have offered.

Thank for sharing this with us prospective buyers, always good to know what cars are really going for, I’m a bit shocked at the markup dealers are asking in this price bracket tbh, must be looking at a £20K profit !Davyt said:

If WBAC are offering £62k, then dealers must be looking to sell around £72k to £78k at this level. I always thought £20k upwards was in £120k upwards bracket?

Cheapest trade 570s on AT is almost £80K plus it’s the car with the steel brakes that’s been discussed on here, £84950 for the 570s at Thorney which is next cheapest..I always thought £20k upwards was in £120k upwards bracket?

After a recent trade in offer, main dealer, i would say its that minimum. I guess with nothing to sell new (Mclaren) realistically speaking, they have to be covering their overheads some how.
I bet they cant wait for the Artura to actually start hitting the showrooms.
Yeah I think a dealer bid for mine would have been £65-68k and they’d have had it on at £80k to sell but my car had over 30k miles so might not have been a runner for them anyway. Alaistair Bols only deals with cars under 20k miles after a recent convo with him. I didn’t really want to keep it over the winter as I need to extend my garage at home so didn’t fancy leaving it sitting out in the awful weather …that and the warranty thing made me try to price it for a quick sale. Anyway I was happy enough to get a deal done hoping prices tank in the next 6 months so I can save some money on a 600LT Spider !
That’s a shocking amount of profit for any price bracket never mind sub £70-£80K, absolute rip off..
I’ll not buy till next year now but am a cash buyer, I’m more than happy to purchase a car privately, work with the seller if it has outstanding finance etc, I’m sure I’m not the only person in this position,, so fellas,, don’t be giving your cars away for peanuts to WBAC or rip off dealers, have a go at selling for a realistic price on here or AT, got to be worth it for a few quid and the annoyance of a few bogus phone calls

There is probably not many like you Davy, i would say 49% probably have something they want to trade and 49% want some finance. I wouldnt be adverse to advertising privately but i would say you defintely elimate quite a few potential buyers on the private market for those reasons, i know finance can be arranged but if its car specific you will need a dealer of sorts to broker the deal.
On the flip side of that, i wouldnt let my car go to a trade in deal at the sort of figure they offered me when i enquired about a specific car.
I think it was discussed elsewhere why Mclarens have shocking residuals compared to the EU and States, i dont think our dealers help for sure.

Sounds a similar spread to what I was offered on mine, circa £10-15k below what it would be advertised for. A few reasons, as any Approved Used car needs to pass the pre inspection and that includes things like all tyres must be OEM and above a certain depth (4mm?) So if you've got PS4s on, all need replaced. Plus warranty, plus margin, and any other bits.. quickly adds up! The frustrating thing for most of us owners is, the jump to trade up is significant. From a low mileage 2017 540c to either a 600LT or 720S a couple of years newer is almost £100k.

Noticeable that it seems three times as many cars were put on the market (18) as sold (6), so seems number listed on AT is nudging upwards.
The sold cars this week look middle of the market in terms of price and age/mileage, not much to be said about them really.
A number of price reductions on 570GTs especially the later cars. I think sellers have been valuing the 2018-on cars with ceramic brakes a step above the earlier ones, however buyers either are unaware or don't care about the distinction (and after all plenty of cheaper 570Ss have them).
McLaren London have nudged the price down on three of their four 570 Spiders, understandably as the winter draws in.
My 'Car of the Week' is this Vega Blue GT - the second cheapest of the 2018-on cars, with forged wheels and a great colour at under £100k. Only thing is that someone's clearly enjoyed it, with 31k miles on the clock. Plus it's at an independent dealer, so if you want a warranty you'll have to get it to McLaren for inspection and pay for it yourself. But tempting.

Brilliant Tom ! Keep your eye on the “no reserve” 600LT Spider on CC, it’s been enjoyed with the front end looking a bit peppered, be interesting to see what the hammer goes down at ?? Also a nice looking 720S on there with 6 days to go..

I bet GC we’re glad to see the back of the 570s, I was in Harrogate months ago and they had it in along with an Orange 540 .

Great work tracking the prices!
I'm sure you already know, but just in case you don't; you can tell how long the car has been advertised for by looking at the URL on AutoTrader.
For example, the 600LT reduced from £159,995 to £154,995 (https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207268162342) has been up for sale (with that specific advert) since 2022-07-26.

Thanks for all the input, always good to hear info about specific cars.
Yeah I've seen the dates in the URL, I could start adding the assumed advert age in days to the listings. In the long run I'll have the first day I saw the ad, which is probably more reliable, but the URL looks to be more or less the go-live date in about 95% of cases.

As a matter of interest, how do you know these are sold? Is it the fact the ads have gone from AT?
Yeah, just ads going offline. Disclaimers as last timesamoht said:
Disclaimers: we don't know that they are sold, if they are sold we don't know how close to full asking price they went, and there may be other listings which have been sold but not removed from AT.
There will be exceptions, but I suspect the majority of ads that go offline represent the car being sold.mOrtt said:
