Anyone have an outlook for old Sports Series range?
Discussion
Is this the cheapest sports series so far at sub-70k for an early 540C?

Yes but the ad doesn’t mention a full service history which is usually a good thing to promote.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202306098...
Cheapest 540c I’ve seen though.

I would imagine you spent a lot of time pulled dover waiting for him to catch up?
Ha! I actually drove the GT4, just to get a taste on what it's like. Being honest, Porsche has never really interested me as a toy car. We have a cayenne as our family car which is utterly brilliant but I've just never quite felt any 'want' for a 911/Cayman. Possibly because they are everywhere near me. I've driven a Boxster S previously and was really disappointed. Really don't get the hype.
The GT4 on the other hand I thought was absolutely superb. It was so refreshing driving a good manual, with a decent sounding engine. The interior felt much better than the McLaren aswell, the bucket seats particularly make it feel a real event. Not convinced on the GT4 looks, specifically the rear spoiler. The rest of the car looks great but the spoiler really looks like an after thought.
Needed a good foot of revs to get it moving but guess that's half the enjoyment.. I'll be honest I think I prefer the 540C delivery, just. Definitely for day to day, but I dare say the GT4 would be tremendous fun on a long spirited drive
Fascinating how two cars at the same price point aimed at similar markets can be so different. I was very impressed

Not sure I’d say the interior is better in the GT4. Own a 718 4 and recently picked up a 570 spider.
Agreed, I came from GT4 to 600LT and think the McLaren interior nicer. Sounds like maybe the bucket seats swung it for Justin, whereas the LT has the P1 bucket seats anyway. I think the Porsche 918 buckets are slightly more comfortable than the P1 seats - bit more padding I think - but there isn't much in it.Im the original thread poster and yesterday finally got my new to me 570s, 2017, coupe. Sealed the deal on this one in 1 week
Its been many months of research so I feel I've had the car for much longer - staring at autotrader, researching independent service options, countless hours on youtube
Even despite seeing so many colours/views/opinions online, seeing the car in the flesh was startling - and I get why people say its a whole different theatre and spectacle (sorry porsche), pictures just don't convey that completely
Ive signed up to Mclaren Owners club? awaiting approval, so hopefuully will be at some events. Anyone in London area or events nearby happy to connect.
Any tips for a new 570s owner? even stupid trivial things - I would honestly appreciate
I will be using the car multiple times a week (its my only car), aiming for 4k+ miles a year

Congrats, and in answer to your questions
I would, in no particular order:
Get it independantly inspected, I'm a V-Engineering fan.
Get PPF, at least on the front, as it can take a bit of a beating over time.
Keep the battery charged, I go for the one hour every 2-3 days approach using an automated home assistant system.
Watch the oil levels, and get used to how much it consumes, easy to overlook.
Don't use suncream if you've an alcantara steeering wheel, or make sure hands are dry before driving, can mat the fabric if not looked after.
If you think you might need lift, just flick the lever up, and dont procrastinate.....
Think about joining DU, great bunch of folks on there, and plenty of events to get to, many are actually free... Brands GT end the like.
And don't forget to enjoy it...

Congratulations! Great to see the thread OP return with a new car. Do post some pics when you get the chance.
I'm in month five of ownership now and it's not stopped feeling very special for me. I was also thinking 4k miles a year and told insurance that, but just noticed I've done 3500 already and not even halfway through the year
Some random tips:
- get in the habit of checking the oil, engine needs to be warm and car level, just to establish current level and rate of change. Having said that, I think it's Autobahn and track use that leads to oil being used between services.
- spend some time stationary in the car digging through the infotainment. Specifically, make sure the speed camera warnings are off or only when speeding, and spend time trying different ways of playing audio, there are quite a few - USB stick, phone storage, line in, bluetooth - to find a way that gives you what you want.
- there are also quite a few options like reverse mirror dip and so on you can enable or disable in the settings
- get a phone mount so you can have Google Maps/Waze up for real-time traffic info (IRIS is static routing only, no traffic AFAIK).
