Very nice, but I think any purchaser should add in the cost of new discs by the look of things in the pictures. They look well shot to my eyes.

Seems to be a "few" bargains out there, 600lt, 720s etc

Personally i would view with caution and would want a Mclaren/Indy inspection despite any warranty as it doesnt cover consumables like discs, it could easily be £15k to bring it up to spec.

Looks like Artura values have dropped around £60k in the last few months. Last summer it seemed like every dealer agreed to hold pricing at £210-220k and now they can be had for around £160k and dropping. Very soon they'll have parity with the top of the 600LT and 720 coupe markets. Any owners on here with experiences/impressions of the reality of owning one?

I had one for three days, to drives it is really an awesome piece of kit, the battery will improves how it drives, instant immediate torque giving it NA like throttle hit and superb performance from down low, also great for kicking the rear out on tight corners and roundabouts, something that combined with the VDC set to 12-15 makes sliding the car great fun and the EV side makes it easy and more controllable to send.

Also great through towns on just electric, it means traffic jams become relaxing and fuel efficient and as soon as you find your next NSL track mode and full send, next city back to EV and relax.

Like all other McLarens amazing steering feel which for me is why I preferred it over my time with the 296 on road and track, the Artura is epic to drive.

Why have I not bought one, well first of all its a good looking car but compared to my 600 LT it just looks tame, then my 600 LT is a Spider so roof or Window down and am afraid to say the 600 LT is a superb sounding car, once of the best modern turbocharged V8 suopercars I've heard, whereas thhe Artura to put it bluntly sounds poor.

Arturas once they hit 130k will be performance bargain, Spiders due soon so 130k cars might only be 12-18 months off and of course an LT version could be real sweet spot but no doubt with a big price tag.

In short epic to drive, but just no drama in looks or sound, but if your the kind of person who buys 911 Turbo's well I'd take Artura everytime, it is also a small car on the road which is a real bonus too.

Thanks for the insights, really helpful! I'd be coming from a 540c so will still be a big upgrade in every way and they seem like the best all round usable car McLaren makes, still looks like the 600LT Spider and 720s are still the more exciting options with more theatre. I'll just drive one and see how it feels for myself once I'm ready to make the switch

Not sure how local Manchester is for you, but Ben at McLaren Manchester can sort you a very good deal on an Artura. The blue one they have in is the onw I borrowed and its a superb car.

Hey guys, I would love to own a McLaren and could stretch a budget to £70k. Do you think I have any chance of being able to get something decent?

Yeah, I guess it's possible.

Be very careful at the bottom of the market, learn what paint corrosion looks like and how to check ceramic disc condition (I think there are examples on this forum of both).

Try to be flexible wrt colour and spec, as that'll increase the chance of finding a good car in budget. And be patient, don't be afraid to pass on a car, another will come along.

Don't be afraid of mileage, generally these cars seem to wear it ok, a well used car is almost more likely to be reliable than a garage queen.

I'd want V Engineering to do a PPI myself.

If I were you I'd be talking to this guy https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310263... , looks like a knowledgeable private owner and a decent car from the ad.

But yeah, there are quite a few early cars appearing in the low 70ks now, you can probably get a few grand off in the current market, and they can't all be bad examples I don't think.

Honestly at that price you are getting bottom bucket + 0 room for insurance/costs

I sold my immaculate 540C for around that, 17k miles and wanted for nothing. That was about 5-6 months ago now so I'm sure £70k would get your into one. Just do your research and ideally get one with some McLaren extended warranty remaining.

I have a similar budget, but if that is your total "I'm stretching this as far as I can" budget for the car then I'm going to say "no".

Well, not if you want to enjoy it with some peace of mind, as even as a Private purchase you'll probably lose a chunk as soon as you transfer the title, and you'll need another £5k in year 1 for insurance, warranty and service. The problem with buying half price exotica is that they generally cost more to run than a new one (excluding depreciation). McLaren are still in a sweet spot where most cars are well looked after and haven't had corners cut, which means if you ever want to be able to sell it for a decent price then you can't cut them either.

So whilst you could have a £70k car on the drive, the fifteen quid or so it costs every single day, before you've even driven it, quickly mounts up. And that's my issue, I could find the purchase price, I could find the runnings costs, but try convincing my wife that her holiday this year is in the garage and I suspect I'd be living in it by August.

Thank you all for your input, its much appreciated. What do you think of this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202312014... It still has warranty although that will require extending very soon and I imagine a service will also be due. I would be coming from a 718 so this would be a whole new experience.

Think there needs to be at least 3 months warranty remaining to make it transferable,, current owner would need to renew it then pass it on so extra cost there for someone ,
