That would have definitley been on my radar when i was looking, i know i am an advocate of carbon packs, but to me that looks twice the car of any white one. Interior is nice too with the orange accents.

The private Curacao blue spider looks a similar colour, nice spec also, does seem a bit to expensive though considering the warranty has expired.

Cars with the high road tax need to be a lot cheaper.

I don't care if I am buying a used £1m car. I am not paying more than the £185 bracket for road tax ever again.

I also will not pay the £7k+ difference between a 2016 and a 2017 car.

I assume you are ignoring the £355 premium you pay for years 2-5 on cars listing over £40k, otherwise your window for car buying is cars registered between 1 April and 11th Dec 2017. On the plus side it grows by the day smile

Interestingly, AT listings suggest asking prices are heading south whilst available numbers are going in the opposite direction - figures from 14 months ago in brackets:

540C coupe - 18 available, lowest price £79,495 (3, £84,999)
570S coupe - 42 available, lowest price £77,995 (7, £89,995)
570S spyder - 38 available, lowest price £99,990 (13, £114,950)
720S coupe - 42 available, lowest price £131,995 (13, £144,995)

The red Sypder is an import, hence the price

Seems so odd to me the 540c has only "lost" £5k compared to the others at £10k plus.

The numbers available haven’t really changed that much if you look back to 2018/2019.

Autotrader - August 2018
60 - 570s
24 - 570gt
10 - 540c

Autotrader - April 2019
65 - 570s
30 - 570gt
22 - 540c

Just had the tax reminder for my Sept 2017 570GT. I thought it might be £185? It is actually £342.50.

Edited to add: I can pay 6 months for £286 or 12 months for £342.50 - so it must be half & half of some kind. I think from it's 6th birthday it is the cheaper rate.

Yeah, it’s from year 6 when the cheaper rates apply, a good saving on any pre April 17 car year on year ..

My car was registered Jan 2017 and costs £630 for the rfl yet had it been registered 01st Aprll I would be paying an awful lot less for the same car.
I still wouldn't choose or rule out a car based just on the road tax though.

Well no one with wanting a Mclaren would, its a couple of tanks of fuel at best, hardly worth getting bent of shape over as elsewhere on this thread.

Only this year. Once it is 6 the tax is cheaper.

Agreed. Plus compare road fund license here with some neighbouring countries for a surprise. It is cheap here.

Only for cars registered from April 2017, jan 2017 car doesn’t qualify it will always be in the higher bracket £620..

I used to work with a Dutch guy, road tax is astronomical over there apparently..

I've been keeping my eye on the McLaren GT market and there's some really nicely specced ones sun £120k which represents incredibly value against the similarly priced 570 Spiders. Aside from the obvious loss of the open roof which is a big factor for some, surely you're getting a lot more car for the money?
