I've been keeping my eye on the McLaren GT market and there's some really nicely specced ones sun £120k which represents incredibly value against the similarly priced 570 Spiders. Aside from the obvious loss of the open roof which is a big factor for some, surely you're getting a lot more car for the money?
In what way(s) is the GT a lot more car for the money than a 570 Spider?

Obviously a lot comes down to personal taste but my reasons are:
  • Bigger engine (4.0 Vs 3.8)
  • More power (620ps Vs 570)
  • Updated styling with cleaner lines (although not the biggest fan of the front bumper)
  • Updated infotainment
  • Better quality interior
  • Rarity
The biggest downside for me apart from the inability to have a convertible is the exhaust note can't come anywhere near the MSO Titanium option on the 570

This car has now been relisted, so isn't a sale.

In the month I've been watching, I've seen ten 600LT Coupes sell, at last advertised prices between £132k and £149k. Ie nothing has sold off AT above £150k - it's quite a clear case of the 'draining from the bottom' situation. I guess as it was a brief production run, all the cars out there are similar age and none of them are that high mileage, so the perceived value is fairly similar perhaps.
(Not to say that a special colour/spec couldn't be worth more, just what I've seen disappear from AT).

Very interesting ,, the perceived value is obviously not what the cars are selling for, would be nice to see a few sub £130K.. ( or am I dreaming )
Anyway,, The big boss has spoken,,, no winter holiday next month due to us recently moving,, shame as this freezing weather is just bloody awful,, Good news is I can potentially look at buying something now, not the best time of year but,, getting a bit fed up of looking through the classifieds tbh,, comfortable round the £120K mark ,, cash,,,,,got a wedding to pay for and fancy upgrading the bike next year so this is where I am ( ish)
Do you think it’s going to be a 570s ?? Or should I hold out for a 600 lt ??

ps, it’s my daughter wedding, not mine so I can’t cancel it ( before someone asks ) smile

For slightly more detail, the ten cars sold's last advertised prices were (in £k) 132, 137, 142, 143, 143, 143, 146, 148, 149, 149.
so only one car under 135 and only two under 140.

Currently the lowest advertised is 139, with seven cars at 139,xxx. Based on the above, I feel like there might be a 'deal to be done' somewhere between 130 and 135k on one of these, depending on car and seller.

To get down to c.120k by end of next month I think you would be needing two things to happen, a further general slide in the 600LT market and for a motivated seller to come along at the right time. But that's just gut feeling, I'm only sat here looking at AT, I don't know how much haggling room there might be.

I'd personally see it as a choice between picking up a 570S shortly, maybe finding a nice Spider to up the engagement factor a bit, or hanging on into 2023 and seeing what happens to the LT prices and if a seller in a hurry appears, but with no guarantee that you'll actually get one without stretching the budget somewhat.

Yes ! I think I’m in no mans land at the moment regards a 600lt, thing is there’s only 2 private sellers at present, both spiders and both to much money,, I maybe just need a private seller with a coupe who is realistic with his/ her sale price, I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed ,, lol,,

You should be able to get a 600LT coupe from a dealer for £135k. That’ll include a 1 year warranty so it’s really £132k + warranty. This is probably the best time of year to buy as dealers will re-list cars in the Spring for more money.

I’ve found the 600LT to be a worthwhile upgrade over the 570 but try them both. You may prefer the 570.

Keep an eye on market too wink

Nick Cartwrights car was bought from Collecting Cars for £150,500 plus CC fee.
McLaren Manchester have a clubsport pro 600LT which is £27k cheaper and will have a Qualified warranty. They also had an Apex edition which was identical in price to the clubsport car. Why anyone would pay £166k baffles me.

I’m in a very similar situation. Hoping to find a 600LT for £120-130k max over the next 8-10 weeks but I might have to plump for a 570s. Not exactly a first world problem but if I can’t find a 600LT in budget I might get something else for 18 months and sell it the summer after next.

I’ve been considering an AMG GTR and then seeing where the 600LT market is at in 18 months time but it’s just not a McLaren…it’s a very nice sports/GT car.

I have a feeling you might be seeing the bottom of the curve right now. As time goes on there will be less 600s for sale I really do think that in time they will increase in value hugely they are the best car McLaren have made factoring in the price vs performance and there are a relatively analogue car for a pretty digital manufacturer. They have future classic written all over them it's such a great time to buy one with values down 10 to 20k from the peak of a year ago.

I can't see a way out of mine I'd love to have another Ferrari but I would really miss the performance and handling of the 600. Plus it shoots massive flames out of the back I mean what is this thing? It's ridiculous!

I’ll be keeping a close eye on prices etc over next few months, you never know something might just pop up close to budget,, no big deal if I “only” end up with a 570s , that’s what I originally set my stall out for but you know how it is smile..

How are the Senna seats on the road? They've been high up in my wish list but there's not too many cars available with them. I'm not fussed about struggling to get in and out as I'm not exactly a large chap and I'm used to squeezing myself though roll cages to get in and out of bucket seats in track/race cars.

Are they comfortable on the road without your own natural padding? biggrin Looking to use the car as a weekend toy with a few (3-4) trackdays a year as well as some European trips with the missus.

I’ve found them surprisingly comfortable. Maybe after 4 hours or so you start feeling like you need a break. Some will prefer P1 seats but they do look special. As you probably know there are two sizes so check the fit.

Yeah it would be the Senna or P1 seats, leaning towards Senna as they do look special. The seat size difference is just the padding thickness isn't it for the Senna seats?

Yes, as far as I’m aware it’s just the padding thickness. There’s a company in Surrey that will make custom pads. No idea on price though.

I can only spot half that, unless they’re not putting “senna” in the description text which is doing their own advert a disservice.
