So who's getting an i3?
Discussion
Really good lease deals on the i3 spotted today over on the best lease thread and I'm very tempted so someone suggested I come over to the Ev thread to ask my questions!
I didn't realise we had a dedicated EV section on PH (either that or I'd just forgot)!
Anyways, I need to make a quick decision, so can anyone answer me the following questions please as my googling and PH searching skills are failing me.
How much is a home charging point and how do I get one, through BMW or someone else? - the lease company say it doesn't appear to be an option at order time.
As well as satisfying the geek in me and (I think) suiting my lifestyle and commute, this is also a financial exercise and these are stock cars, so do you think I would cope with a fully standard car?

Once you have ordered, BMW instruct a company called Schneider to contact you and do a survey of your property etc. The installation is then a fixed cost (i don't know how much, i recall circa £500?) as long as its a 'typical' installation... i.e. they only need to do <Xm of chasing, lay down <Xm of cable and the job won't take longer than X hours. This is how it was when I was looking at themEmeye said:

What are you used to? This is such a user-specific question. In general, they have a surprisingly good level of standard equipment though.RossP said:
No need to buy the charger from BMW. I got mine from chargemaster. 16A is free but I would recommend the 32A for a £95 fee.
Are the cars on offer completely devoid of extras?

Previously I had discounted the i3 due to cost and I had not done any in depth research, so I have no idea about the spec, but it does look like standard spec., though stock cars sometimes have options fitted to them. Options always make a lease expensive once you start ticking the boxes!

But it mentions "free home charge unit" so I'm wondering is there some kind of agreement you need to enter for them to monitor your usage via GPRS and then you get it free.

It seems the unit is free but you have to pay to have it installed.http://www.chargemasterplc.com/homecharge_offer/

"We are delighted to be able to offer you a free, fully installed, 3 kW charging unit to be fitted at home, on your driveway or in your garage, for a one-off cost of only £195* (incl VAT). "
