Been following the Tesla story closely and have been very impressed thus far with their achievements.

Our family car is currently a Lexus RX Hybrid and I think the Model X could be a perfect replacement in 12/18 months - based on our requirements it seems to tick every box.

Had a long chat with the guys at Tesla Westfield and they confirmed that there is currently no confirmed delivery dates/prices yet for the Model X but most likely mid 2015 for first UK deliveries and a slight premium to the Model S - it depends on US sales though which will of course be prioritised. Order books are though open and £4k secures an order (or £30k for a Siganture version and faster delivery).

Even though I'm not in the market for the Model S the guys have kindly offered me a test drive next Tuesday to get the whole Tesla experience - will report back on my views. Also, they mentioned that since opening the Westfield store they have taken over 300+ confirmed Model S orders - impressive going.

If the test drive with the Model S goes well then I think I will stump up the £4k basic option to at least have a seat at the table.

PS - All the guys with i3s... very jealous - had a sit in one at a BMW showroom and they are a very impressive piece of kit.

I suspect we may be waiting a while for the Model X. I think it may be a bigger hit than the model S in the USA - especially with 'car service' operators now starved of Lincoln Town Cars. Customers are going to love being wafted around in silence and being delivered kerbside through the 'falcon doors', rather than clamvering inelegantly out of a saloon car.
