So VAG have announced two new vehicles recently which look like promising commitments to the market. Tesla were never going to remain unchallenged forever!

The Model S alternative, enter Porsche.

That is one sexy looking car - I may be swayed off my Model S ambitions. But it is only listed as a concept (how many production cars have wheels like that!)

The Model X

Not so sure about this one. The specs sound like they'll give the Model X a run for it's money but the styling leaves me cold!

I quite like the look of the e-tron, based on the a3 sport wagon though which I found a bit claustrophobic

the photos of the Porsche I have seen suggest an appalling ratio of interior space to the amount of road taken up - might be a bit of a dull complaint but it has to work in the real world not just motor shows

Because EV have NO emissions, even VW cannot mess that up smile....unless they put a petrol engine in one by accident!!

if they can get a 300 mile leaf on the market in 17 months I'll have it...

That's my thoughts too, obvious caveats around price, which they suggest is the current :cough: stumbling block.

if it's under £300 a month with a smallish (£1800 max?) deposit I will be happy, as that is what my QQ currently is. with the benefit of no fuel costs.

I was thinking of a PHEV (apparently there will be an ASX PHEV soon, but an outlander would be fine too) but a 300 mile leaf would cover all my requirements, short of a jaunt to the south of france again.

new 2016 Outlander now in the dealerships ready for Thursday launch.

Looks better in the flesh than last years model, with a more aggressive nose, chrome bling scattered about. Changes include new seats that actually have some lumbar support, heated steering wheel with new thicker leather rim, improved padded arm rests, new dash inserts and consul that look like BMW wood effect. Tidied up buttons and what feel like thicker carpets. Supposed to have improved sound proofing and door seals for wind noise reduction. 44g out the pipe.

It might beat the Tesla 3 out though, which might make it the first in its class? (Assuming it's of a similar size)

A Leaf with a 300 mile range would be absolutely astonishing. I'd assume real world range of 200 miles at worst, and if the price was comparable to the current one I'd be all over it.

Well thats different, 'Falcon Doors' are interesting, not sure about wood trim though, seems like the last car that should have that?

...and 3.2 to 60!!!

This is a car aimed at people who want to move their whole horde around in safety

Pictures as a thousand words...

Side impact protection - Model X versus Next best

..and if every car was like this, imagine the reduction in parking stress in terms of door dins.

This thing is going to sell like hot cakes compared to a Q7/Range Rover/X5 M etc...Even the 'slow' version has a 0-60 time below 5 seconds.

I'm ready to order one - But no prices confirmed yet, and the 'cheapest' model at the moment is likely to be £70K+.....cheaper models - with less battery/range on the way but no idea when yet.

I'm not convinced by the Falcon doors as they appear to be on the two rear doors only. The front doors are normal swing out variety, which means in the demo scenario, the front passenger and driver would need to climb into the rear to get out. Unless I'm missing something?

Still looks like an awesome vehicle though.

I've told me wife this is exactly what I'm going to be doing...even if I could open the front doors normally!! If we get the 6 seater version climbing from front to back would even easier....She didn't like best pleased with me at that suggestion smile
