Wall box can be £150 (socket) or £200 (tethered)
http://www.rolecserv.com/ev-charging/product/OLEV-...

Makes charging very convenient and brings charge time down to c90mins (i need to check exact time). At weekends it means I can get multiple charges a day when nipping to shops and running the kids around etc.

12,000miles on my saloon now at an average of 50mpg - I'm still very impressed.

Yup. It's says so in the second paragraph of the manual page I posted above.

You will need the other cable though. I wa given both with mine for some reason.
I think the reason is because that's what it says on the standard spec list!! hehe

They come with one cable for standard home sockets and another for commercial charging points.

On the latter point, am I right in thinking that these look like a complete ball ache? I'd rather naively assumed you'd just be able to rock up to one and either get free power (depending on how trendy lefty the local council is) or just use a credit card, but from what I've seen so far, it's not that simple, and it looks like I'd have to sign up to multiple schemes if I wanted flexible coverage away from home?

I haven't signed up for any public charging.
I can't ever see me being parked somewhere for two hours which has an available charger.

Apologies Rob, I missed your post. Yes, I got both cables too.

Once again yup. It is a total ball ache seemingly every council or area seem to have their own non interchangeable cards. Each seem to have an annual £10 or £20 fee plus additional charges when you use them. If you do the same journey and use the same charger it could be worth it, but I seriously doubt it. In most cases you will get further simply by putting the same amount of money in as petrol. Charging at home and work is the way to do it if you can. You may get lucky and find the odd council run car parks with designated bays and 240volt plugs, but these are quite rare I still bring the cable with me just in case.

To be honest I only noticed it said so after your post. I was backing you up.

I haven't even got a delivery date for the car yet, but I did notice that my meeting (at a local council office) on Thursday has a charging point, and with a journey of 60 miles each way, it would be really worthwhile being able to charge the car during my meeting for the return leg, but that would require me having to have something called a Source East RFID card.

There are also a number of charging points at car dealerships which, on Zapmap, say "customers only", but mostly seem to be run by Polar Plus, who charge £7.85 per month for their RFID card. I'm not going to be bothering with that one, but I couldn't figure out whether "customers only" meant Polar Plus customers, or customers of the car dealership?

No idea what this is about? Are you charging it off AA batteries?

Mine will charge fully in around 2 hours....

Not my car, just an example of an unsociable @#** blocking a charger

So people should refrain from buying one in case they block a public charger for two days?

I suspect you may have had the same problem I did. The original order was for a 17 model year which they couldn't process as Mercedes had moved onto the 17.5 model year, seemingly without telling the lease companies!

Joined the C350e gang last Saturday. Bit of a whirlwind romance really, it was only the previous Wednesday when we went out testing a few options (GS450h, 330e and the wildcard Jaguar XE-S). Tried a C300h on the Thursday and signed on the line that very day. We bought from UK stock. Apart from not getting a clock and it having 18" rims, it was exactly what we would have ordered but we didn't have to wait months for it. We lost the £2500 grant due to the 18" rims taking it over the 50g threshold, but the dealer split the difference with us, we got the car now, and didn't risk getting stuck with the new VED rules which would have almost certainly happened given the long lead times on these if we had insisted on a build to order. It was a gamble, but there you go. Prefer the 18" rims as it happens but wouldn't have specced them from choice 'cos they effectively cost £3k over the 17".

Loving it so far. Need to use it more though - only 160 on the clock at the moment. Even after less than a week, it quickly became obvious that having a tethered charge lead is a good idea so have got a Rolec on the way for installation in January. Have opted for a 32A charger just to future-proof myself - I'd still have a Tesla if the price was right smile I know the Merc can only charge at 16A tops.

It's a clever thing isn't it.

If you've figured out a way to plug in a C300h, then it's very, very clever indeed! hehe

I see there's a new look to the me connect app plus a couple of new features too - battery charge indicator and remote climate control activation.

That's 2 of the 3 things I was after sorted, thanks MB thumbup Now it just needs a log of the last week or so of journeys to help with my expenses...

(I know there are other apps that could do the job, but I want it all integrated like the Volvo one my colleague has!)

I was hoping it might do remote control parking like the E class, but apparently not. frown

Apologies, I re-read my post and I wasn't at all clear was I.... we test drove a C300h as they didn't have a 350e at the time. Initially, it was to see if we even liked the C class at all - any C class would have done. As it happened, the C300h was so good, we took the decision that a C350e would be even better so went for it. Could argue it was stupid to buy one without a test drive of the actual model. As it happens, more than happy with our decision as it is indeed better than the C300h in a number of ways that suit us well, not least the ability to plug it in. A diesel would never work for us as we tend to do short runs pretty much all the time. The ability to do most of those on battery only is fantastic.

Plugging in a C300h would be a neat trick wouldn't it.... smile

Even after only a week of ownership we realised a fixed charing point would be a good thing so got one on the way next month. Now thinking about solar PV and Tesla Powerwall.....

Loving the C350e so far. Still done very few miles but enjoying every one. Need to get out in it more I think.
