That's why I wouldn't consider an i8 (setting the price to one side) - used to have an Elise and people queued up to laugh at me climbing in and out with the roof up...

I had one on demo for a few days a while back, and the doors are a great novelty for 20 minutes or for showing the kids.....

after a while I found them a pain in the arse, and just for clarity I'm not a lard arse and perfectly able to get in and out of my Caterham.

Agreed. They look great but they are a pain in the butt. I guess BMW through them at it as maybe they thought telling someone it had a 3 cylinder putt-putt engine in the back would be forgotten once you opened the doors.. (I think not).

Had my i8 almost 2 weeks now and loving it to bits (despite the stupid "dihedral" doors). I've owned over 100 cars in the last 30 years and this is like nothing I have driven before. I've also had many that have grabbed attention, (don't even think about buying one of these if you are a shrinking violet), but this beats all of them.

Hopefully I'll still be singing it's praises in 6 months time. Whilst it isn't cheap it is actually amazing value when compared with "other" sports cars. The fit and finish is very good, interior is beautifully sculptured and lit, the ride almost beyond reproach and the whirrs and strange sci-fi noises it makes will keep me entertained for hours whilst driving. Does it go? Yes, very well. About as fast as a Porsche 911 C2S but makes the Porker seem very very last year. Roll on the All-Electric Four door from Porsche. That should be good.

Had mine for 3 months and 2000 miles - and it does make the 991S feel like................yesterdays car!
I actually enjoy the silent running, and it does turn more heads and get more 'pointing fingers' than any other car I've owned before!
The doors can be a pain to negotiate, especially for 6'3" individuals like moi, but it's all apart of the futuristic appeal of the car. I'm yet to be hemmed in in a car park slot!!
Just received my BMW i Pure Impulse Card; have to see what that's all about? I thought it was originally part of an option pack, but a fancy boxed package arrived and now waiting for the password?
Graham.

Hi Graham, glad you like the car and I was referring to a 991 C2S as well. Just wish e weather would dry up so I can start to enjoy driving it. Keep me posted with your thoughts over the months.

I'm no where near his level of lardiness but he's doing a very good impression of me trying to get out of a Mk1 Exige rofl
