I’ve had my car for a week now. Completed 1000 miles and averaging 42.9mpg mostly motorway. My previous diesel c-class averaged 48.7mpg over 87000 miles so pretty happy with that bearing in mind the BIK saving. My initial thoughts are - Lovely smooth ride, plenty of power and extremely comfortable but poor speakers as previously mentioned in earlier post. One slight annoyance is that there must be a relay that clicks when engine switches between petrol and electric which is quite loud and gets on my nerves. Anybody else experiencing this or maybe I am too fussy?

My other gripe is the SatNav. I find it difficult to differentiate between roads that are on my route and those that are not. The map shows some roads highlighted in red or green, but I think this is based upon traffic conditions. My actual route is difficult to see at a glance, which isnt great. I haven't found a way to change this.
Have you tried changing the colour scheme? Have you tried using the Navigation view in the instrument display via iDrive?

I have a 330e and have enjoyed the car.

On 12/11/17 (2 months of owning the car), my wife got:
Electric drive cc msg
Electric drive temporarily restricted
You can continue driving.
After cooling/heating of high voltage battery full electric drive power will immediately be available.

We took it for service and the dealer said it was a coolant expansion tank and it took 1 month to get form Germany.

Now 1/9/18, they called and said it is actually a hole in the radiator and it is my responsibility(not warranty).

This sounds just like the issue from Caseys. Did you have problems with the dealer covering it under warranty?
I had exactly this, all covered under warranty by Sytner in High Wycombe.

I've not got mine yet but Navigation View sounds very interesting, what does it do?

Being in a group of 4 330e owners at work, mine being the oldest (November 2016), I've not had an issue. Two colleagues who got their cars April 2017 have both had a fault with the charge contol unit, which threw up your first two messages and stopped the car being charged when plugged in with a low voltage warning.

So there's been at least 4 people on this thread with a charge control unit problem. 2 people (I think from last reading all 170+ pages) that have had a hole'd rad.

I had this in December, when it was very cold, probably around the same dates. Max eDrive was not available but after driving for a few miles it all went back to normal.

I can't find any recent images but this is an old version of it.

It automatically switches to this view when turned on coming up to turnings etc, and very similar to what comes up on the iDrive screen when you have route guidance on but not in map view. I don't have the larger Professional Media screen.

I've had mine for about 3 months now, went for the BIK saving also and did notice that switch at the start but then i kind of didn't anymore, i guess the Harman Kardon is doing its job. I am really enjoying the car to drive, handling is great. the power & torque from the electric motor kick in seamlessly when accelerating . went for the shadow-edition and its easy of the eyes, would of blended in more with out the e-drive logo. it really is a great car.

Only negatives i found was
-Pressing both the sport modes is a little anoying though. im not even sure of the difference between the two functions.
-Lack of charging so fuel economy is pretty poor (40mpg motorway/30mpg in the town). hopefully more charging points get installed. offering such big savings on tax to get the cars into the market and not supporting the infrastructure is backwards thinking. I was in Amsterdam before xmas where they have 2 charge points on each road in the centre.

at the end of the day that juicey bik saving really offsets any extra costs in fuel and you still get the full hybrid power and a big smile on your face.

The poor speakers was the reason I specced Sport and added HK rather than a standard M Sport (Company car allowance ran out!), I had 3 years of frustrating audio in my previous E90 model, why a premium brand like BMW still has such a poor standard system is beyond me, in the US they get the "Hi Fi" set up as standard, its only us brits that gt lumbered with the 6 speaker set up!

I'm deciding weather to keep my fuel card now iv'e got this as I can claim 13p per mile and as i'm based at home everything is classed as business use, so i'm interested that you get 42.9mpg already, should increase with the better weather.

Has anyone installed a home charger? if so who did you use? i notice lots say "From..." which means i get the hard sell when they get to my house telling me i need the house re wiring smile

Best quote I received and ended up using to install my point was from a company called chargedEV. £149 untethered cable and £199 tethered. My installation was straightforward with no additional cable run. Prices are on top of £500 grant.

Charged EV fitting mine on Monday- £99 untethered and as they couldn’t do it in 10 days then only £50.

ChargedEV installed mine. I got one of the Rolecs fitted for £100 plus an addition £60 for installing a new 2 way Consumer unit. My existing consumer unit only had a single slot left which I wanted to keep for a future project. The installer split the meter tails, installed the new CU and then installed the Rolec on my internal garage wall. Its a tethered version and the cable just comes out under the corner of the garage door. I fitted a Type 2 caddy to the outside wall to allow me to store the cable so I dont have to keep opening the garage.

the advantages are the Rolec is out of the elements away from prying eyes, and if we go away it is all locked away.

Highly recommend ChargedEV

I used charged EV and had mine installed at the end fo the summer. I had an untethered Rolec unit and I paid £79 at the time. Would recommend. Went this way as I needed a 10m cable which I purchased on line

I had my 7kw charger installed for free by western power distribution. Part of a trial so they can monitor how and when it’s used. Worth checking if you’re in their area if they are still doing it.

Hi folks

What is real-world performance like, once the battery is gone? Rural A-roads, overtaking, etc? I am considering a 530e order (sorry, slightly off topic, but very few about), and coming from an F31 330d, I'm worried it becomes a heavy, underpowered petrol - is that unfair? Tried to get a demonstrator, but earliest was late March, which is too late.

Come from a 430d to 330e. New car is smoother and slightly slower but in real world performance not really a lot of difference (miss the diesel mid range acceleration but not too much!)

Hi all. Is it normal that I’m still being given a vague date for delivery?? Car ordered 10/10/17 individual colour (tanzanite blue) and all I’m being told is “March” when I query why they’re so vague they say it’s because build will be Feb? I don’t know. Just expected a proper eta by now.

Am I wrong??
