There is, for sure. My car is a year old and used to be the same 52% but after it was returned with new samsung's at 6 months, it was up to over 90% in save mode.

On Saturday, I started my journey at 100% with my car indicating 18 miles range (climate off).

My return trip was 19 miles on a mix of roads, dual carriageway, urban and some hilly bits.

So ran in Max E Drive. The engine came on 100m from home. Sooo close! driving

it should do well over 20 miles, when the ambient climbs a bit more! (UK).
That's really impressive.!! I can't get more than 16.5miles with pre-conditioning before I leave, though that is in Auto Hybrid mode which kicks the ICE in at about 10-15% battery. Hoping to get nearer 19miles in the summer!
What percentage had the battery run down to when you got home? Was it completely flat?

A question for the floor...

So those of you that have had your cars a while now do you find that you charge everyday, twice a day, every few fays, less frequent? And also any benefits or negatives you've experienced because if your charging regime.

All feedback welcome

Thanks

Glad to see so many people enjoying the 330e, so the real killer question. Come 2019/2020 would any of you swap into a 200 mile range battery only EV if it cost the same as the 330e?
If it were a real world 200miles range and looked like a normal car like the 330e…..maybe I would. I'm not a big fan of the Leaf or the i3 as I just dont like the look of them.
I know my dads interested in the Jaguar iPace… but that will be considerably more expensise than the 330e/i3/leaf.
I didn't like the look of the i3 originally but it's kinda grown on me. That said I didn't like the bounciness of the suspension when I test drove one.
As to the original question it's a tricky one. I love electric driving due to the immediate torque and smooth delivery. But I do also like the sound of the 330e in Sport under ICE power. On balance though I think I would jump to an all electric 3 series given the chance.

Wow, and I thought I did little mileage... smile

You've barely run the car in. Speaking of which, I keep wondering how I'm going to do that with most of my driving being in town using the electric motor...

Impressive stuff that! Can't recall if you've said previously, are you able to charge at work then?

I'll be commuting about 23 miles each way. Id say about 60% motorway 40% town and country lanes. Unfortunately no ability to charge at work at present but I'll certainly charge at home. It'll be interesting to see what I can get out of it smile
This wasn't a work trip. For work, my commute is 18 miles each way. At the moment there is no charging at work but there will be by the end of the year which will be excellent! I've tried it various way:-

To work Max Edrive until flat, then Auto Edrive home. 75Mpg
To work Save Mode, then Max Edrive home. 65 Mpg
To work Auto Edrive, then Auto EDrive home. 64 Mpg

The trouble is, traffic conditions vary day to day, so the comparison on one trip is not useful really. What I need to do is track it over a week using the same method. But most days I jump in and just let Auto Edrive do its thing. Today for example, this morning's trip stats are:-

18.64 mi
Electric Distance Driven 44%
Consumption 76.34mpg
Duration 41min
Erange 48% - 7 mi remaining.

I wish the Connected App would show a history.

I didn't look. I generally have the display set to miles of EV range rather than %. The range was showing --! When it hits zero it means really that it is less than 1, and when it shows -- it means actual zero or ICE imminent!!

Most days once, so during the week, I charge overnight. When charging at work arrives later in the year it will be twice.
At weekends if I've popped out in the morning and know that I am going out later on, and there's enough time for a reasonable charge then I will charge it again. This is where an installed charger would be better due to the reduced charging time.

I've found that the opportunities to charge at Public charge points are limited/practically non-existent. I've done it twice, and then only on the three pin plug. Since February when I got the car I've missed one opportunity to charge at a hotel overnight because I don't have a Type 2 cable. Seeing as one would cost £120, that's a lot of charges to see a return on investment. The same thing goes for a home charger, I was going to get one purely for the convenience factor but it never happened. Now I have screwed the BMW charger to the wall and padlocked the cable instead.

So I don't use the car everyday. Biggest weekly drive is on a Thursday which is a 45ish mile round trip. After using it all weekend the battery will be flat and I'll charge it up to about 50% and stop it there as car won't be used for a few days. As I don't use it everyday my charge cycle is quite irregular / broken lol.

The only thing I would say is try and charge overnight (if using the following day) and program your depature time so you can pre condition the cabin and the battery. This means true battery is at the optimum temp when you set off!! This is key when its cold.

As for charging times : the lowest I have ever had the battery is 2% and off the domestic charger with charge rate set to max, it took 2:45 to fully charge.

I have a 120 mile round trip and charge twice daily, home and work, indicated battery range seems to be dropping all the time but distance driven on electric in terms of miles remains constant as far as I can tell. 5000 miles completed since March now and doors creak like crazy!

Hi Guys, can I ask about the preformace from anyone that has changed from a 520d or 320d. I am due to change my company car 520d and had been planning on the new 530e, but for some reason they don't offer it ... they do offer the 530d thou !!

Anyway my choice is the new 520d or the 330e, obviously the BIK on the 330e is a lot better, however what's putting me off is I had the current 3 series when it was first released, and its due a upgrade soon ... however I do like my power ... so what would u go for the all new 520d M sport or the 330e and is the performance really noticeable, plus does the enhanced performance drop of as your speed increased i.e. 50-70 etc ?

Any advice welcome

Hi Sarge, my drivers door creaks like mad, much earlier in this thread there was a fix - simply apply olive oil to the rubber door seal around the window. It worked for me for a reasonable period of time - I know it is not ideal in a car costing almost £40k. Dropping the window a tiny bit in mine also fixes it confirming that the problem is between the glass and the door seal. Hope this helps. As yet I've not been back to BMW, would be interested to hear from anyone else with this problem.

Hi Jonny, I've just come out of a 520D SE into a 330E MSport and in terms of the performance the 330 is streets ahead, the power available leads to many more smiles for your miles. You do need your wits about you driving in electric mode through towns and cities as pedestrians don't hear you coming, adding to the fun as you look at their startled expressions having crept up on them!

If you do a lot of miles though you might find the smaller tank (40L) a chore as visits to the petrol station will be more regular. Fortunately I do a lot of short journeys and charge at home so I can reach 400 miles between petrol station visits. The majority of the weekend is on electric power only.

So I'm not the only one with stealing doors. The creaking is so loud when in EV mode… especially when going over speed bumps frown

Been lurking on here since looking for a replacement co car.

@Kendo2748 I just placed an order for a Sportline (co car budget won't stretch to an M Sport). Lease company indicated delivery for middle of July. How accurate that is remains to be seen - I will ask for VIN/Order Number next week to see if I can track it through BMW Genius Chat.

Can I ask everyone who has a chargepoint at home, the chargepoint you have, and the installer you used, cost to you, and whether an earth spike was installed?

Thanks

My order is through Lex and the paperwork had November 30th on it but after reading this, I think it is a bit optimistic, the M Sport was above my band and cannot justify the additional £150 a month to upgrade so I ordered the Sport version with the only extra being the metallic paint.
