Hi. I’ve been reading the thread since January 2016 - ordered a Sport in July 2016 and took delivery in January 2017. Have so far covered just under 21,000 miles.

Have been very pleased with the car with very little to fault it. Have not found the smaller boot to be an issue and my concern about visiting the petrol station annoyingly often (compared to previous high range diesels) has not transpired.

My mileage is probably higher than would be recommended for a hybrid but it is working out economically for me. Apart from the BIK savings I am confident that the HMRC rate of 12ppm adequately covers the costs even on the occasional long distance drives (>150) where you are lucky to achieve better than low 40’s. My normal daily mileage is between 60 and 120 miles (plus local personal mileage in top) and the car states that it has been achieving around 60mpg for the last 6212 miles - that seems to be the maximum distance the on board computer retains. That cost per mile does not include electricity costs but on the basis that the electricity is about half the cost of petrol per mile when charging, you’re definitely a winner for every work reimbursed mile covered on the electric motor.

I mainly only charge at home. Most driving done in comfort and auto edrive. Sometimes switch to eco when cruising. When weighing up the costs, remember that the car also regenerates power under braking etc so the actual electric miles covered will be higher than the range produced by charging - I have covered more than 7000 miles on the electric motor.

It seems to me that different drivers/driving styles will benefit from using the car in different ways. I very rarely use the Save mode - I found car learnt when to use the battery so on my first few drives to my office, the battery was flat when I arrived but now, it is more than half left for the return trip. The car/app also recognises regular trips so I get a prompt telling me when to take my children to their regular activities. I like that the app recognises appointment addresses from my Outlook diary and I can then send the address from the BMW app to the car very easily.

One of the nicest features of the car for me is being able to get into a warm and deiced car on those cold/dark mornings.

So to the reason for posting. I live in North Wales. I’d not driven a BMW before this one arrived. My last experience of a rear wheel drive car was my first car (a 1972 VW Beetle). I have been used to ploughing through snow drifts and ice in previous A4’s and Passats. I did not experience much poor weather in early 2017 but there was one light dusting of snow about a week after the car arrived and I was shocked to be unable to get up the slight hill in our estate (it was not helped by a 10year old Corsa overtaking and getting up without problem). Although I had seen neighbours unable to get their BMW’s onto the drive or parking them on the main road away from their homes I had not fully appreciated how little grip the car would have.

I’ve looked online at various chains/socks/sprays and ties but none look up to much and I cannot imagine any are easy to fit given the limited room between the tyre and wheel arch. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I was planning to press my company/lease to fit All Season tyres which really do look as if they could answer however so far as I can see, there are no run flat versions of all seasons tyres in the size I require - 225/50R17. Has anyone found all seasons run flats - what are they like? Did a lease company agree to fit?

Look forward to hearing your views.

I wonder if you could get run flat all seasons in 225/45R17? A slightly smaller tyre but a far more common size?

Just had my first service after approx 17 months and 20k miles. Just oil & microfilter was a whopping £269. Not too pleased with that but I didn't negotiate very hard either!

Stats so far, 20454 miles average is 85.8mpg. Charged most days at home, some days at work, occasionally out and about if there's a 3-pin available. Have done 12076 miles on electric only apparently, good for the environment I guess!

Need new fronts soon, but mostly down to aggressive cornering the outside edges are worn. Middle is still ~3mm, rears about the same. Surprised at that tbh.

I’d be pretty happy with them figures! How far is your daily commute?

Does anyone know what main difference is between the professional radio and business?

The professional comes as standard as does Bluetooth prep, will this allow me to stream music from my phone to the car wirelessly?

Also what is the difference between the navigation business advanced and whatever else is available as an optional extra?

It was 27 miles each way, which I averaged about 130mpg if I charged both ways. It’s now 16 miles each way but can’t charge at work anymore, average about 95mpg. It’s a bit of a bummer as during summer when I could still charge I did manage to go both ways on full electric quite often, now it’s getting colder and especially if it rains economy drops dramatically. Shows you how terribly inefficient ICE cars are really when a spot of rain drops 30% of your economy!

My overall average is 86 mpg, it gets dragged down pretty quickly by long journeys of which I’ve done a lot due to the cars insane comfort and drive ability. Uncharted motorway trips you’re looking at anything from 41-50mpg depending on weather traffic and speed etc

I have business nav and can make phone calls and stream music wirelessly, steering wheel voice button also works for Siri/OK Google e.g. tell it to play a specific artist/album etc., ring someone, send a text etc. Supported apps like amazon music need a wired connection

Early in this thread you'll see that pro nav has better 330e specific functionality for calculating electric use on return journeys. If you want apple car play as an extra think you need pro nav

Also live traffic is included in pro nav, £50 a year for business nav

That said mine's a year old and therefore the older i-drive so some of above may have changed - I'm on a 2 year scheme and when i have to order again in about 6 months time will will probably go for pro nav unless it's included in whatever i order (which will be another plug-in hybrid - wish there was a 430e GC....)

Ordered mine today. It was the only thing of any interest on our Co Car list. Low BIK meant I could have some good options. It's in White on 17 inch Alloys but have got the HK, large screen Nav and Comfort Pack

Just have to see how long now

Thanks for the reply mate. So does the Business Advanced Nav not do the thing where it automatically changes the mode dependant on the type of route?

Finally made a decision and ordered the 330e last night. i spent a lot of time trying to weigh up whether the car would work with the way I can claim business miles and it seems as though it is totally dependant on how the car is used and driven. i think i should be able to do the 15 mile commute to the office on electric only and as i cant claim the mileage to my local office i'll already be up in that respect. I'll also be saving approx £100 a month compared to my current company car which is an Audi A5 2.0 TDI which is good on long motorway journeys but not so good for the many local journeys at the weekend like taking the kids to footbal etc. To be honest there wasnt much on the co car list that could compete with the 330e in terms of looks and performance, the next car on my list was a lexus 300h executive which in my opinion is nowhere near the bm in terms of looks.

So i'm a very happy man today just need to wait for a delivery date now, like a kid a christmas!

So spec:

330e M Sport
19" 403M Alloys
Alpine White
Privacy Glass
Dakota Leather with the blue stitching
Brushed aluminium with high gloss finish

Now nearly 8 months on and 11000 miles in and I love this car.
Good mpg on long runs and a beaut to drive.
Only thing is now im only seeing 18 miles max once charged and use to get 26 miles.
