On another note, did everyone buy their type 2 charge cable from the dealer? If so how much? I see there are plenty online and I expect the dealer will sting me a bit harder.
You can buy the blue coiled cable from BMW dealers on eBay for about £130.

Hi All,

After picking up my 330e Shadow Edition yesterday, I have had an issue connecting the App to my car.

I thought I would share my experience in the hope it helps solve any issues going forward.

I didn’t realise that you had to input payment details as part of registering your car, as I had no need to do this due to the subscription for connected services already being active for iPerformance vehicles. Anyway... a call to the UK BMW customer services number confirmed this to be the case and it was fixed within 10 minutes, really great customer service!

Hope his helps,

P.s...it’s a fantastic car, faster than I was expecting and I was also impressed with how much the battery would regenerate whilst in ‘save’ mode.

Please don’t take this the wrong at but I am intrigued by what you would expect as compensation?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, BMW are rumoured to have registered nearly all the of 330E’s in UK stock on the last day of December including customer ordered cars to themselves and a rental company. Personally I would be a little annoyed by this if I was without a car but they are lending you a near identical replacement until they build you another.
That fits with what I’ve been told. The dealer told me it is my actual car that I’m getting (tomorrow) but I have to return it for another end of March. It’s not all bad but it’s just annoying because I’d rather just drive away tomorrow in my car and that be the end of it. For example I want to get my dash cam fitted etc but I don’t know if there is any point knowing it will all be to remove soon. It’s small stuff I know and Barely worth bringing up but my point is only that I (the customer) is going through an inconvenience. The fact they are giving me a replacement car for the duration, I don’t take for granted though and I take back my suggestion I should be compensated further. I think I’d just had a bad day at work and was looking to vent.
Hi all, exact same thing has happened to me. I got the exact same spec car I ordered with the exact same colour/options etc. delivered from the same dealer as a courtesy car, while they go away and build me the exact same car for delivery in March?!

Don't do this.
On the theme of bad charging ideas, as a public service announcement, this doesn't work

Got my (temporary until March apparently) 330e yesterday! Unfortunately no decent pictures yet because I was driving it all day. I’ll take one when the sun comes up! Love the car considering I didn’t test drive before ordering. It’s as fast as I expected and I’m very impressed at how well the ev drive and engine integrate in auto mode. I think BMW have really done a good job on this car.

Unfortunately I was coming up the m40 about half an hour after collecting and a van pulled out in front of me flicking up a big stone which hit the bumper then the A-Pillar leaving a pretty big mark in each. frown

Just a heads up for anyone who needs the tyres changed on their car. My lease company has fitted Continentals on the rear of mine and I would advise people to avoid these if possible as they are bordering on dangerous in the wet and even break traction in EDrive when pulling out of junctions.

I thought it could just be the cold weather and salt on the road but I drove my colleagues 330e yesterday with Bridgestones and it feels like my car before the tyres were changed.

Have bridgestones on mine, they seem fine just a little noisy. Plenty of snow here in North Yorkshire and they are managing ok. Quite impressed with how well it does in the snow actually, probably the boot full of batteries helps...

What model of Continentals are they? I have stock Continentals on mine and they've been fine for me.

New tyres often start off a bit slippy as the releasing agent for the mould is still present. It takes a few miles to scrub them in.

Well I’m heading towards 30k and still haven’t needed any tyres yet to my surprise. Still 3-4mm on them

Done approx. 3000 miles now in this and I am overall very happy with it (coming from a 170ps Diesel A4 Black Edition)

The performance is very good from a 2litre petrol (albeit turbo charged) and the the extra torque from the electric motor seems to move it well off the line.

I have had to vastly alter my driving habits in order to maximise MPG on long distance routes! I currently have to be getting at least 42mpg for me to break even on long commutes for work, which is just about do-able as sensible speeds...

A couple of issues I've had so far;

1) The iDrive had a paddy and crashed / re-started. It didn't have any effect on the car driving as intended, but was just annoying more than anything - Its not done it since and this was on the 2nd day of ownership.

2) I've been caught out a few times when trying to pull out of junctions / onto roundabouts fast - If in 'Auto' mode, the ICE isn't quite as responsive as I would like and there is a slight delay in it engaging / providing maximum power. I find myself now knocking it over to 'Manual' in these situations, so the ICE is fired up and ready for the usual Monday morning dash onto the roundabout!

I've also found that the quality of the interior / exterior is not as high as my previous Audi. For example, the indicator / wiper stalks feel very cheap in comparison. The grab handles also feel cheap and the have some lateral movement. I have also noticed some area's of the exterior where there seems to be a lack of base coat - It almost looks slightly transparent! (This could just be my eyes...)

With regards battery range, I am currently getting between 10-14 miles. 10 being with the climate control and the headlights / wipers on. 14 being with no climate control on, just headlights and driving with economy in mind! This seems to suit me as my commute to work is approx. 9 miles and there is a limited number of charging stations at work.

Would I personally buy one of these cars? Short answer, no! I feel the range has to vastly increase for it to be a viable alternative to suit my driving requirements.

Am i happy with my BIK saving for choosing this car? Absolutely :-)

Hi there. New to the forum but as I just got my new 330e today I thought I would post. As has already been mentioned by others, mine is a temporary loan car. It is the exact spec as was ordered by our fleet company but my official car is now not due till mid April when it was late Jan. The driver basically confirmed that the car I now have was my original ordered car but BMW then took over the car and registered it and then are loaning it out whilst a new car is ordered again for me. The only difference will be I get an 18plate when it comes.

First commute to the office tomorrow (38miles each way) so will see how we get on with the economy. Charging possible at both ends so hope it will not be too bad. Preconditioning set for the morning hopefully. I have heard that it is worth setting the departure time earlier than planned so that the car can get to temperature (which uses up some of the battery power) and then start to recharge again a bit so hopefully roughly at right temp and battery as near to 100% as possible. Will see what it says in the morning.

Looking forward to the BIK saving over the 4yr old 520d that just left today!

Sport Contact 5’s (Runflat), have been on a few thousand miles and still no improvement but hopefully they will improve with more wear and better weather.

Lex are telling me that mine is waiting for me at a uk dealer. So no changes with substitute cars etc. My employer is big user of the brand globally so this might have played a part. I can’t take it for another month but that is ok.

There is another 330e same car and colour as mine to be , white , often parked near my ex wife’s gaff in se4. I’m often there decanting or collecting my children. Modern families and all that. Is that anyone here ?

No I'm in a pool car anyway so will just keep that a bit longer, I'd had April in mind in my head after reading this thread anyway so wasn't a huge shock

I took the opportunity to change the colour and have gone for Black (was White previously and the only thing I was unsure of)

Interestingly my mate got his invite to order a new co car, logged on and 330e and Golf GTE were there, he took a day to do some research and speak to me, next day they've disappeared from the list, he's finding out what's going on as he's not happy

I made the mistake of logging into our company car scheme portal (my log on still worked) and the 330e had dropped massively in cost, I had to order Sport trim with a few option, i could have now if ordering got a shadow edition with pretty much anything, serves me right for looking :-(
