I promise I'm not turning this into a how to thread but the supplying dealer missed half my book pack so have not got satnav/audio instruction book

When using connected app or online it keeps saying that gps in not activated and can only be activated in the vehicle, I have had a look but can't see anything to tick, all the online tutorials are for previous versions on idrive.

Anyone activated?

Also wife took the car today, did 8 miles from a full charge and it came back with 12% left and 0 mile range, seems a bit low?

Yep GPS can be activated in the car- can’t look at the moment but it is in one of the menus.. Mines doing around 16 miles at the moment but it depends on pre conditioning etc.

Seems about normal to me. I get about 12/14 miles around town in the winter and 18 or so in the warmer weather.

Just don't believe all the crap BMW tell you nono

I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt as it was the wife driving rolleyes got a 25 mile run to work tomorrow where I can charge both ends subject to how many are already on the stations (we only have 4 at the rugby site), its a run from Tamworth down the A5 so should flick between the petrol and electric a fair but, this will be the deciding factor as to getting a fuel card or not as i don't think the 14p will cover me on the longer journeys if i'm stuck in traffic etc.

I stumbled upon the GPS activation so all good now, not sure how i did it but in the process managed to call BMW Emergency services which was fun phone

I have a 330e M-sport currently on order (due July) and have been reading the forum for a while now. I've found the posts and photos very helfull....

I've read elsewhere that the 330e software can be coded to 2TB for Sport Automatic gearbox, just wondered in anyone has tried this and what their experience of it was (much difference, worth doing, any problems etc) ??

I thought it was a different gearbox, I much prefer the gear “knob” on the sport gearbox though

I never knew there was a difference until I saw both pictures. Interestingly the 330e has paddle shifters without the sport box but the 316d and 318d autos don’t have paddles

I believe user "FunkyDunc" has done the gearbox coding earlier in this thread.

Its something i am considering doing with mine, as well as enabling enhanced blutooth - although the latter is proving a bit of a challenge as the MY2017+ cars without pro-media have a new head unit and theres not much info out about it.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does 2TB Sport Auto give over "standard"? Mine's a 08/2017 car with Business Nav. I don't want texts and Office in iDrive, so what would enhanced bluetooth give me on coding?

TIA

After reading a small amount it seems mainly the speed of the shift and more general sportiness to it.

Everyone raves about this 8 speed ZF gearbox but I don't think its any better than the last 2 DSG boxes I've had (apart from 2 more gears)

The main draw of enhanced blutooth on the older cars were they did have bluetooth but would not allow streaming music without that option.
For me the enhanced blutooth is would simply be to have two phones connected to the car at once rather then having to make sure to between work/personal mobiles as needed, as streaming and spotify is intergrated now anyway.

For the sportauto, it changes the shift-patterns to be more aggressive in the sports modes - rapid changes more like a dsg type gearbox.. except in the 330e im guessing the extra rotational mass of the motor will somewhat negate the effect compared to a normal gearbox with just lockout torque converter.

I think Sports modes are plenty fast enough for me, so will leave out the 6AT or whatever it is.

On the subject of EBT, is this a version of it (which I have)?

This is interesting.. it looks like you have some of the functionality with the little (2)phone next to the second entry. and i see you have the standard nav too?

Ill have to check a bit more i think.

Edit: i defo dont have the option to have two phones active at once. I can pair several but have to switch between them - annoyingly vehicle profiles doesnt have a preference either.

BMW's ZF8 is smoother than DSG in traffic. I say BMW because it doesn't work as smoothly in the Giulia for example.

As an ex-transmission designer, that maybe largely down to calibration on the transmission ECU.

My thoughts are the shift quality is generally pretty good.

Warm / hot is better than cold (due to the oil being warm / hot and therefore thinner)

When cold you can get the occasional jerk as the gears shift up, usually on a light throttle opening.

Changing down in all conditions is also pretty good.

It’s difficult to callibrate an auto to give a perfect shift in every condition / loading, there is nearly always a compromise, but in the BMWs case it’s more good than bad.....

Had my 330e for a week now and very pleased. Two things I can’t fathom where someone may be able to help pls.

I’ve registered for connected drive and activated the service which works on a pc and android. However, everytime I get in the car I get the connected drive Activate Services now screen, is there any way of getting rid of this?

Second issue is I can’t find the detailed vehicle consumption/efficiency screen that is often screenshot posted on this forum. Where can I find it?

Thanks
