Seriously I am genuinely excited oh how things have changed, I'm coming from a 15 mpg F10 M5 which started to really irritate me I was putting £100 odd a week in to sit in traffic.

Maybe I'm getting old but it was just such a waste of money.

Thanks all!

I dont think BMW customer services know what they are talking about - My car (Feb2018 basic Msport build with no options) has business nav and has RTTI included.

The only remote services it doesnt have is concierge, carplay, office365, intelligent voice assistant and wifi hotspot.
Mine is an Oct 16 M Sport - was extra for me for RTTI so maybe that's changed if yours was included, however i did have everything else including a trial of concierge that I never used

The only thing that does annoy me slightly is that it still tries to creep even with the handbrake on - bit of a waste of energy really.
Am I reading it right that you have the handbrake on whilst stationary in gear?

I see another poll coming up - when stationary for a period of time in your 330e (i.e auto), do you
1) handbrake, in gear;
2) foot on brake pedal, in gear;
3) foot on brake in neutral;
4) neutral if not rolling;
5) handbrake in neutral;
6) use Park button;
7) Park button & handbrake

Any other possibilities? Personally, I use 6 (press the Park button)

For me, 5) handbrake, in neutral. Don't like sitting on the foot brake and annoying those behind.

Started using park when I first got the car but was advised against it.

8) Let adaptive cruise do the work... means effectively sitting on the brakes...

My 330e is arriving on Tuesday - can’t bloody wait!!

So, few questions around charging etiquette - if you arrive at a public charger and another car is plugged in and is fully charged, what is the done thing with regards to plugging them out?

Also, is there any way to prevent someone stealing your type 2 cable when charging in public?

Cheers

One other point around etiquette, read up on the types of chargers. Loosely speaking there are destination chargers (pretty slow at charging due to the rate they deliver), fast (a bit better) and rapid (the best).

Leave the rapids for the pure EVs, they rely on them to get around whereas hybrids don't and you'd effectively block them from using the charger. Also they're expensive and totally uneconomical to fill a hybrid battery vs just using petrol.

The fast and destination chargers are fair game and worth signing up to Polar Plus as you get three months free with them. Just get your Type 2 public charging cable and download ZapMap to your phone to find out where your chargers are and you're all set.*

  • Aside from there being a few too many charging companies so you may have to have a selection of apps / cards to use the entire network around you.

Also - in sport mode max edrive the take-off from standstill is comical and quite addictive addictive biggrin

Heres my stats so far after 2 months and 1700 miles - note the "litres of fuel saved" seems to be based on ~40mpg, so if your travel is urban - the actual saving will be more.. The same trip in my Cupra usually yields around 25mpg.
(zero stars for driving mode as i was in sport)
Sorry for the stupid question, but where do you get the data you have there? My app doesnt show that much info.

Cheers

It's on the ConnectedDrive website. The 'Cockpit' view duplicates much of what you see in the App but gives you greater detail, such as the total number of electric miles you've done since the last reset etc...

Evening all,

Not sure if this is a stupid question, I know there are the eco pro, comfort and sport settings that change the throttle response and steering feel but how are these affected when the auto level is pushed to the left in sport mode does this override the other settings?

Thanks

Hey Steven,
the way is see it from about 6 months driving is sports mode on the shifter just allows the engine to run at rpms where your ready to launch it/over take. its the same as when you press the sports mode next to the shifter, except when you do that it turns on the harder steering and mpg counter on the dash. i guess they have kept it different for for the steering wheel weight adjustment preference.

Just wondering if anyone has had more success than me with the 'smart battery management' using the pro navigation/eco-pro?!
I do regular return journeys during the week to the same destinations, varying in distance from around a 30 mile round trip up to around 50 miles, without an option to charge at the other end.
I have tried setting a destination very close to my home in the car sat nav for each of my journeys, then setting my actual destination as an intermediate destination; also I have tried as someone on here suggested - to use the on line 'my routes', again setting a very close to home destination, then 'dragging' the mid point to the actual place that I want to go.
In both cases it just doesn't seem to work! The two legs of each journey couldn't be different - the car seems to use all of the battery on the outward leg, then the return journey is mostly ICE all the way.
I love this car, but this really spoils the overall quality of the driving experience. Obviously the ICE/battery use balance should be better over the journey, and it's a real shame this isn't the case!
Has anyone had a better result, or come up with a method that actually works please?!

I’m not convinced it is smart or uses the sat nav info, as generally I experience the same thing.
Also despite the increase in temps- still only get max 16 miles indicated at 100%.
BIK saving still makes worthwhile though!

Agreed on the smart thing too, I’ve given up charging at home as found it uses the battery at times where it should be on ice and leaves nothing for local roads the other end where electric would be more suited.

Regular trip for me is Tamworth to Warrington, expected when Nav set is to use battery up until the motorway, ice for the motorway then electric for the 4 miles the other end off the motorway.
In my experience it uses battery on the motorway if under 60mph and all the way through the roadworks until is empty then ice on the local roads at the end destination.

What MPG are you getting on that trip without charging?

I've found the same with usage of ICE Vs elec when on a sat nav guided regular driven route (for traffic updates etc). There seems to be no logic as to when either is used.

What sort of range are people getting with a full tank and battery? I'm seeing between 250/300 miles dependent on the blend of motorway, local roads and a road. Not great really. Especially as fuel cost is going up.

About 250-300 too.
So far averaged 51mpg
On a fairly regular 230 mile trip I avaerage around 45mpg which I’m happy with.
Just don’t get the electric usage going down a couple of percent each half hour when I’m doing 70 on the motorway?
