Ive had a chance to do a bit more testing with the "active route guidance" that they call it on optimizing battery use... it does work but wether its the best way to optimize consumption it remains to be seen.. (and i had zero battery left for the return journey)
It only works with a route planned on the satnav AND eco-pro drive mode engaged.
It work seems to work by modifying the sensitivity of the throttle before the engine kicks in.
Bear in mind that my car is a Feb 2018 build with the basic iDrive6.
My "test route" was a journey from jct17 of the M60, and then down the A34 (some dual carriageway and A-road) to Congleton. The distance was 37 miles and i started with 85% charge, it was quite warm so the aircon was on.
The car was running in e-mode on local roads up until joining the motorway then the engine started, and this was shown on the display (under technology in action/edrive)
The car ran mostly on engine all the way round the mway, apart from when "coasting" - it would allow small amount of ev to be used to try and keep pace before the engine would start again.
As soon as i came off at the slip road M60 to the A34, although the engine was still running as i was doing over 50mph the screen changed to epower preference
Once back on dual carriageway, the "saving epower for later" came back up until the display and stayed until coming to the single-carriageway part when it chose e-power for preference.. The single carriageway is nice "flowy" 50mph limit where good progress could be made if one such desired.
The interesting thing here was the car automatically switching between epower and engine based on the gradient of the roads.. any kind of uphill, the display would change and the engine started, even if just for ~5 seconds to get over the crest of the hill, before switching back. my throttle inputs were constant so i could see how one-bar of e-power would shoot up to 4 and then start the engine without me moving my foot.
After the battery was down to 10% the display changed again - the engine stayed running and i think it was also doing some aggressive regen at this point
And then the last mile or two through congleton center it switched back to full e-mode.
At the end of the journey - this was the result, and it left me with 4% battery remaining.

This is how I’d hoped it would work

How do you get to that screen view ?It only works with a route planned on the satnav AND eco-pro drive mode engaged.

Never seen it on my 2017 car

Its under My Vehicle - Technology in action - eDrive.Never seen it on my 2017 car
There are three screens in there - one for route guidance/anticipation as shown above, one for current status (picture of the car + battery and energy flows) and a minute by minute consumption graph.
Again mine is a 2018 build car with the non-pro ID6

they work pretty well, range is about half a mile i guess. i found it working best on the a and b one-lane winding roads. there was too frequently cars on the outside of the motor way so it keep flicking on and half. wont be using it much now with all the daylight anyways
Have done a couple of night runs over the last few days (Norwich to Southampton last night) and the lights are great as a driver but I have noticed quite a few lorries flashing whilst coming the other way on the motorway so I assume the beam is not cutting down as it should. Car is not charging as of tonight.
Eliminated the Rolec being faulty by asking a neighbour to plug in his Tesla.
Searching around it looks like a failed charging control unit (KLE).
Warranty repair done. Was indeed the KLE charging control unit. BMW Assist recovery at my house Friday afternoon. Loan car delivered Saturday morning (could have had one Friday night but wanted alternatives to choice of cars offered). Fixed and collected yesterday afternoon. Eliminated the Rolec being faulty by asking a neighbour to plug in his Tesla.

Software updated so had to re-do Bimmercode coding like radio off on door opening, door handle lights on reverse etc.
Early days yet but looks like the electric range has improved.
Drivetrain fault for me this morning. 66 plate car with 35k on the clock.
Unplugged the car, got in, pressed the start button and got the message:
Drivetrain
Possible to continue journey
Full performance not available.
Have the problem checked by your Service Provider
With the EML staying on. Took it down the road, electric motor seemed to work, stuck it in manual, that worked. Went to Save Mode and that worked. checked the sports displays and it seemed to give the full power. Decided to do my 40 mile trip to work and whilst I again averaged 50mpg it used up more battery than normal in manual mode.
Turned the car off and on again, got the message again. Turned off and on again a second time and the message has cleared :P I think I'll be calling BMW when they open today.
3 other 330e owners at work have had their charge units replaced. I'll be trying to give it a charge at lunchtime down the road.

I had this. Same error message. It had to go into the dealer. Don't know the specific terms, but basically they replaced the car's socket. The whole module needed to be replaced. Quite common apparently. All covered under warranty - just inconvenient really.Got this error message:

I think it is because you are tuned into Absolute 80s to be honest Fix the radio issue and the car will likely charge fine Got this error message:

Seriously, there may well be a few of us 330e drivers who listen to the 80s stuff on dab, age does not hide

Mine went through on the 28th Feb, was cancelled by the lease company, then reinstated in mid march.
Fingers crossed it's coming soon.
How are you finding yours? Arrived yesterday I hope?
Glad your order got reinstated, shouldn’t be too long I hope. What spec have you ordered?Fingers crossed it's coming soon.

Mine is this coming this Friday, can’t wait.
I’m guessing this has been asked before but can anyone recommend a specific type 2 - type 2 charging cable? There are quite a lot on the market but didn’t know if anyone has had some break or stop working.
And would I need a 16 or 32 amp? I can’t find any info online.
Also does anyone have a polar or pluggedinmidlands subscription? Do you think they are worth the £7.85 p/month and are the charge stations usually reliable?
Thanks

Mine was also re-ordered mid March. I got the BMW order number and asked for an update last week. They quoted a manufacture slot of end of July with delivery to dealer mid August. Once registered etc then available for me at the end of August.Fingers crossed it's coming soon.

I'm hoping it pulls forwards somewhat, otherwise I will only have a new car for a matter of weeks although a great car from previous comments
