Did anyone install a proper after-market hifi system in a 330e?
Any specific issues? I'm assuming the amp(s) will run off the ICE battery not the high voltage one.

Did you have any issues with the BMW warranty after such an installation for 'modifications'?

Thank you
Anyone?

Depends what you mean by 'proper'? I have the Advanced system and I replaced all the speakers and subwoofers with Bavsound replacements.

Couple of weird things recently.
Had anyone had a problem with their charging flap not unlocking?
Twice now I've had to lock and unlock the car a few times before the flap has unlocked.
And today I parked up with 50% battery but came back to 22%. Nothing was left switched on and that 22% dropped to 7% in half a mile of driving. Very odd.

A few times I’ve had the charger flap not unlock and done the same as you.

Happens to me occasionally, but I've never had to lock and unlock the car again more than once to release it.

Are you waiting any time at all between unlocking and trying to open the flap?

Well, my 330e journey is at an end as the car goes back tomorrow. Just done it's final trip and still really like the thing. If I could have kept it I would have but as it's a company car the deal was done two years ago and can't be changed. It's still one of the best cars I've had in terms of the novelty of the battery, which still surprises me when in pure mode up to 30 mph, and being back in petrol after a few years of diesel. Looking forward to seeing what the next gen 330e is like, I'll probably be back in one then!

I wonder if anybody is awaiting delivery of their 330e now that they stopped production?

My flap is hard to close it always takes a few attempts, particularly irritating in the rain..

My petrol cap wont open without getting out, trying it a few times (you can hear the solenoid or whatever) then locking/unlocking the car & trying again to open the fuel flap.

It's a right pain!

Piecost76, You may already know this and your petrol flap could well be faulty but the first thing the delivery driver told me when he dropped my 330E off was that it's takes a while for the filler cap to open and you sometimes need to wait before it will unlock.

From the owners manual:

'The vehicle is equipped with a special fuel tank....The fuel tank is designed for special requirements arising from hybrid operation of the vehicle....
Press button to start aerating. The tank aeration status is shown in the instrument cluster. In rare cases, the tank aeration may take several minutes. When the tank aeration has finished, a message is displayed on the instrument cluster. The fuel filler flap is then released for opening'

Having said all that, I have never had any issue with needing to wait myself, even in hot summer weather. I push dashboard button, then by the time I've got out of the car the flap is unlocked and ready to flip open.

So if yours is repeatedly taking ages to unlock then it might be worth getting the dealer to have a look.

Hope this helps.

Are you pressing the button on the dash first? Mine does get stuck occasionally

Doubt it as all cars had to be registered in August.

You're right. Something to do with the WLTP type approval which came into force on 1 September.

yes me! ordered with Leaseplan August so the car is registered then but I requested delivery 31st October as my other car lease doesn't run out until then. Its coming from BMW Milton Keynes. I originally reserved a Black Msport Shadow Edition, but changed to Mineral Grey as that stock car had the Pro Nav in and the black didn't.

Thanks Mate,
Did you replace the Amp as well?

I'm thinking of adding two Sinfoni amps, probably 2x165W & 2x100W - without any sub at the moment. I hope the current draw own't overwhelm the system, I understand the key component is teh DC-DC converter (that's supposed to top the conventional low voltage car battery) - I asked BMW for the specs and they found them, it's about 31 Amps... Not much.

The comparable part in a Chevy Volt for example (A VERY different car that I won't like to drive) is 150 Amps...

Many thanks S1bs, I will double check this.

Sad to hear they've stopped production - is it because of the new generation coming?

What are the realistic EV only ranges people are getting? I'm looking for a Leaf replacement and I need the versatility of a plugin.

New one with 40 miles (ish) real world range coming in July 2019. Old one killed off by WLTP.

With 41k miles on the clock on mine now I can say 12 miles range in winter, 16-18 miles range in summer.

My June ‘17 car has 36k and gets similar numbers

Mine is 2 months old and I'm getting 12 miles in mild weather and 10 in cold.
My first journey in the morning is all uphill though.
I am, however, trying really hard to drive as efficiently as possible. So I'm somewhat disappointed in that.
The car is fabulous on the whole though
