There is a tuning plug and play kit available for the 330e now. Check out this thread anyone who's interested (who owns their car of course)!

Fan bloody tastic. How risky / stupid is it to try one of these on a leased car?

Well if it goes bang, you'll be paying for the repairs.....!!!!!!

The car will know, as it will alter various parameters and result in overboost etc.

But the thought of 5.1 sec to 60 in a 3 series which does 142mpg is quite a tempter....!!!

Hello everyone,

my 330e M Sport was built last Friday (22-4-2016) and will be delivered in about 5-6 weeks. I got it loaded and in black sapphire / black dakota w. 19" 442M wheels. smile

I got a dealer demo for a day and did a test on the new 2016 BMW 330e with the "MAX eDRIVE" and "ECO PRO" -settings turned on. It was under BMW's claim of 40km / 25mi, but I still managed a pretty good result.

I'll post a couple of videos of what kind of mileage the car does on petrol alone (with 0% battery) later on this next week, so stay tuned for that.

Here's the link to the video, enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdbYWpZVxhU

Anyways, great to be a member of this forum. Already some great cars have been delivered, keep on posting updates and especially pics! smile

My car was built on the same day and is now 9610 Port of Exit, I have a estimated delivery date of week 19, which is w/c 9th May.

so what date have you been given?

I am assuming it is waiting at Cuxhaven for a ship, however there dont seem to be any due to arrive at Southampton from Cuxhaven so its all a bit frustrating!

Well.... I'm located in Helsinki, Finland, so they won't be on the same ship. I've been given an estimate of June 17th, but normally deliveries happen little under six weeks from the build date. So I'm expecting the delivery to be around the 1st of June.

I don't know how you'd do that. The car seems to want to have 12% minimum charge in the battery, i.e. it is possible to run it down to 1% crawling along in a traffic jam but as soon as you're moving the car uses every opportunity to 'charge' the battery up to about 12% where it goes back into 'normal' mode. You can force it to run electric only in MAx eDrive but you can't force it to run petrol only without charging - BatterySAVE seems to allow charging on part throttle.

Apologies, I meant doing the test when the electric range is at 0km and when the engine has come back on.

But that wouldn't be a fair test because it would be charging the battery to get it back up to 12%? It wouldn't give you a true mpg for the distance?

I don't understand the general obsession with mpg on this car - it's impossible to compare figures and circumstances because there are so many variables. The mpg the car gives me due to my pattern of driving and charging may be completely different to what someone else gets out of it with a different usage pattern.

I used to record bring to bring consumption numbers but with this car there's no point, it's actually refreshingly liberating!

You're not wrong but it's still useful for others to see real world figures, as long as you paint the full picture. For someone on the fence if they see another user with a broadly similar commute getting great mpg it certainly helps.

I will still track brim to brim out of interest, as I'll probably only monitor the commute trip by trip but the average will be dragged down by weekend hoons and long trips and I'm interested to see by how much.

That's s lot of money for a second hand car!

They are nice cars but certainly not worth a premium IMO or they are no limited production Ferrari. I don't think that car would be that much new, then apply the £5k discount the dealer would have got, and your paying way over what you should

+1 initial lease deals were dirt cheap. I'd happily have this car because of BIK but if I was spending 40k on a car it 100% wouldn't be a ex demo 330e... In comparison you can buy a 340i Msport (331ps) with leather and many options as standard for circa £29k if you go through broadspeed.. It's a 40k rrp car and the fuel savings on the 330e wouldn't be that amazing in comparison

You can even get a 530d msport for 33k with discount

You can also get a brand new Porsche Cayman for sub 40k lol

This car is pretty much a company car, or a private car with the right deal

It is a bit on the high side, but, it's very well spec'd.

And, I would spend a little bit over the odds, rather than wait a year, it is a company purchase at the end of the day.

Just a heads up in case anyone is thinking of placing an order for the 330e; we've had an update via our company fleet system and BMW have told us that any orders placed from this point onwards are being allocated productions slots mid to end of 2017.

Apparently BMW didn't anticipate such high UK demand for a sub 50g/km car.... rolleyes

Hi BGrieve, 2 weeks maybe but I don't think any of us know...

Mine arrived at the port yesterday, does anyone know for sure which port they leave from for the uk? Or average time to hop on a ship for that matter...!
