Is it me?

I seem to have a passion for Electric cars at the moment and been trying to buy a Twizy for a week or so now.

Contacted West London Renault who have an almost new 500 mile example, four times. Finally spoke with someone today. Yes, it's our demo, it's in the workshop, I'll just go check and call you back. Nothing.

Ditto two others on Autotrader - no returned calls. I only want it as a toy although rather hung up about having to sign up for 3 years battery rental at £45 per month so that's £1620 before you even take it out the garage. You then have to pay whether you like it or not to have the battery "inspected" at a further cost plus insurance at typically £275. Not a cheap toy especially as you don't even own the thing, (it's worthless without a battery) at the end of 3 years.

However, it would be nice to at least get a call back. Anyone else had similar problems? Or have you one parked up not being used?

Maybe they thought it was a prank call (would anyone really buy one?)

I've only had 1 serious enquiry on one; a couple of years ago, he didn't get approved on finance.

We have never run one as a demo, I had to borrow it from our other branch for the guy who was serious, however I don't think our other branch have one now.

Most enquiries; a handful a year at most, are just people who are curious about the weird looking 2 seat electrical car thing with no doors that they have seen in London "can I have a look?"

When the Twizy was in its early days, we would literally made a few quid selling one and they didn't count towards target so we weren't really interested in doing much with enquiries.

I honestly don't know if they are still produced, if we can sell one or if we can order one, last year I did a quote for one for a young guy who was curious; it was more expensive on a PCP than a ZOE.

Haven't a clue where they figure in the grand scheme of sales in the UK, where Renault UK are with them or what the want from them, the Twizy is a bit of a meh thing for RUK.

You do own it. You don't own the battery. It wouldn't surprise me if, in three years, there were pattern batteries available to buy outright.

Excellent you'd have to be a bit mad! I passed one being driven at night on the M3 a few weeks ago and it looked like a scary way of travelling.
