I8 values in free fall....Why?
Discussion
I think screen replacement on an i8 is a very involved task. Something along the lines of the doors have to come off and for the doors to come off the front wings have to come off as well? And as the car was assembled by robot refitting the wings and doors so that they line up properly is an iterative task? So probably best done by a BMW bodyshop as opposed to your average autoglass repairer.
I've just had my i8 into an Autoglass center for the windscreen replacement. It did take about 2 hours to complete I had a watch from the waiting room, the doors stayed on, front wings stayed on. The front bonnet had to be opened, and 2 plastic trip panels on the roof had to come off. I was very impressed by guys who completed the job.

I am very tempted by one of these, how do car seats do in the back seats? I have a 5 and a 1 year old, and whilst it would not be used for day to day I'd still like to take the kids places
Here's some links to a couple of threads on the owners club about the rear seats https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?...

i8 is hand assembled. For anyone wondering about rear seat space for kids.
I’m just over 6’2” and have a thirteen and fifteen year old.
The fifteen year old is about 5’11” and the thirteen year old isn’t much less at about 5’6”
As a four seater you will struggle for space behind the drivers seat with a 6’2” driver but yes with the drivers front seat forward a bit more than ideal then they will both will fit in the back for VERY short journeys, realistically it is more of a three seater though.
With the front passenger seat in a comfortable position for the older one sat in the front then the youngest one fits perfectly behind the passenger seat.
It’s a bit of a compromise but the i8 is definitely worth it (from the drivers seat).

Looks like the end of the road for the i8 is coming

Well I've gone an done it - LCI Coupe arriving monday, virtually half the list price but BMW took that pain. I wanted something fun and while I'm not the greenest person in the world it seems to have the curb appeal, can pootle when you want and still be a hoot. Not sure why they aren't in demand like they used to, guess it shows how fashion changes, I wouldn't be surprised if t becomes a future classic of sorts although it might take 20 years. Dealer told me they'd just sold a Z1 for £160k

I’m off to them in the morning for a C Class windscreen and I’ve been quoted 3 hours! AW10 said:
A Z8 perhaps but not a Z1.
But then you will be hard pushed to find any Z8 for £160K today.... one car that slip by me when I sold my 7000 mile car for £55K in 2004... but I was happy at the time and at least enjoyed and experienced the car,I blame the wife for selling it as she wouldn't drive it back from the pub because it was LHD...Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
