So who is getting a Model 3?

Spec - possibly, performance - well know the base model 3 is 0.5 seconds quicker to 60 but that's before any battery or performance upgrades may be added. But all that is insignificant due to the 330e being a hybrid, and a rather mild one at that. I'd say the e-golf is more similar, at least it's a proper EV.
As of now, Tesla really own the higher end EV market. The 20's will be when the likes of BMW, Mercedes and Audi catch up. It will be interesting to see in a few years how they've held their value compared to say a 335d/340i.BishBosh said:
Thanks, not having much joy with that but will see if they send me a pssword reset.
All I have done so far is send them an email in reply to their confirmation of order email.....
Update to say contact has been made and I can cancel my reservation. Takes 30 days to get a refund, so all good. All I have done so far is send them an email in reply to their confirmation of order email.....

That's a pre production car by all accounts Musk has promised an announcement on Sunday,. Place your bets on which Sunday.
That video is one of about 20 doing the rounds of release candidate vehicles.
A few days ago one was spotted being unloaded from a plane in New Zealand. No one knows the reason for sure but the theories include winter testing or visiting a specific test track.
I can't wait for mine. Someone has built a tool where you can see when it's likely you will get your car based on spec, date of order and location, for me it's October 18.

I find it interesting how in last few days the way that news articles are banging on about how bmw will have a fully electric car to 'rival' the model 3 next year. I personally don't see it as a rival at all. It will just look like every other 3 series. The model 3 in my opinion looks far better, and says something different about you as a person.
I also am unsure which way to fund it. I'm thinking a decent deposit and Tesla finance.
I'm just glad by the time we get ours that the option list should of expanded by then.
I'm off to the US for a month this September and going to try and arrange a test drive courtesy of my UK reservation, Tesla UK say it shouldn't be a problem.

Well if you don't see as a rival it doesn't mean it won't be, because it will be exactly that. I personally would take a BMW 3 front look any time over that fked up Model 3 "Neo mouth" nose. Why didn't they just scale down the face-lifted Model S front is beyond me...Well I went to the dealer yesterday to look at a 2nd hand S to scratch the itch whilst my 3 comes. Was a bit tatty but must admit I am tempted with the low APR on the PCP deals on a new (or nearly new) one instead.
However, the biggest shock for me was the test drive! Yes ok I was sucked into a P100D test drive in a 'look at what you can't afford' thing, but OH MY GOD! What speed - WHAT A CAR!!!!!!!!!
I've driven some fast cars in my life, R8, Ferrari's, Lambo's, etc, but NEVER something with this level of speed. It was like I would expect an F1 car to feel like. Instant power at any speed, the torque was amazing. The Tesla girl was great too, no question of calming the driving down, in fact she was encouraging it lol. I caught her braking for me a couple of times though
Not only is the 0-60 speed unbelievable, the mid speed is too. 40 to 70 was like a second or something silly. Nothing could prepare me for such power. The grip also was madness, 4 wheel drive and you could tell, although I think it spun slightly at 40mph when I floored it!
I'm hooked - yes it was a £140k car, and when she knocked the power down to an 85 (which is what I was looking at) it felt a bit tame in comparison, but still this is the future of motoring for me without any doubt of question.
0-60 in 2.5 secs in a 4 door saloon with every comfort of an BMW 7 series = LUDICROUS

I think it will be a rival for a different type of buyer. I don't think it will be a rival for the majority of ME reservation holders.audi321 said:

I couldn't agree more. After a couple of ludicrous launches I actually felt sick, my stomach felt like it had been forced backwards very violently, which I guess it had been. The last time I felt that type of force was in a modified 997 turbo. However, the biggest shock for me was the test drive! Really interested to see how this car works out and how it affects the supercharging network in the US with an extra 20k a month added to the roads for years to come.
It's a hell of a gamble for Tesla and I really hope it pays off, this car needs to be really, really good.

That's one hell of a ramp up. Buyer beware though, the first cars will have issues, they always do.

If the first 30,000 or so cars all end up in California, as expected, they've got some time to identify problems and fix them before we start to see RHD versions over here. As with anything, it's not so much what may be wrong with some of them when they roll off the production line, but how they go about rectifying the problems.
