So who is getting a Model 3?

+1 how can they deliver if people havent even specified their cars? Or perhaps some in the US have already?
initial deliveries are for tesla and space x staff - they will of been able to config, just internally and kept hush hush, but given the initial options are colour and wheel choice, they aint hiding much anywayInterestingly there are approved used P85's for £45k on Teslas site now like the one below with 20k miles

This is a lot less than I expected. Could be tempting instead of a 'lesser' Model 3 at only say 5k less....
Hmm could be interesting when it comes to me seriously looking.

I've been tempted to look at an S after the waiting time for the 3 started getting longer, but I just don't need a car of that size at the moment.
The 3 ticks all the boxes for me (other than not initially having a performance version).
I still think I'm going to use my reservation to find out what it's like to live with and then I could either order a higher spec'd 3 or try the S for size if I'm not satisfied.

Well if you're looking at used, pick you options and see what's available. If there's no link it's a Tesla car so should be easy to find. Works best on a tablet or desktop

Interesting that they improved the performance of the Model S last week. 0-60 time down to 4.3 (base model).
There's 2 theories as to why they've done this:
1. They've redesigned the Drive Unit for the Model 3 and found improvements/efficiencies and decided to use it on the Model S aswell/instead.
2. They're trying to differentiate the Model S vs Model 3 to ensure peole will still buy the S.

I thought it was now 4.1, down from 4.2.There's 2 theories as to why they've done this:

I've just placed an order for a Model S. Going to cancel my Model 3 reservation. Are they transferrable? If so, does anyone want it? I was fairly early in reserving.
That is a very good choice, I too cancelled my Model 3 as I just can't get my head around the saloon style boot and the waiting time. The model S just seems so much better. Having said that I just bought a BMW i3 with Range Extender instead and thats a very marmite car. However its perfect for our needs, just completed 1500 miles in the first month and not used a drop of petrol, just goes to show that range is just about perception.
Even went down to Goodwood for the festival of speed from Northampton with one stop at a charge point on the way down in Didcot ( free charge up) Costa Coffee break for 1/2 hour then onto Goodwood. Another 1/2 hour stop just near the FoS for a charge to get back, and a last stop at the same Didcot stop for coffee to top up. Nothing that I wouldn't have done in a petrol car except all the charging was free as I have a three month free Polar Charge card.

I guess with a rex it's worry free but what would you have done arriving in Didcot EV only and only 2 working points with evidently a queue of 3 and 4 cars for each? Ditto near FOS. There will be a point when demand vastly outstrips the infrastructure + if it's broken then what? However its perfect for our needs, just completed 1500 miles in the first month and not used a drop of petrol, just goes to show that range is just about perception.

Totaly agree hence the Rex. Having said that the Model S in 85/90 size will only do a real world 250miles so same thing applies relying on working chargers, I also believe the Model 3 will only have a 200 mile range. With the Rex it's a bit more EV than hybrid and can be used as a full EV if so desired which is the challenge we set ourselves to acheive but still negating any range anxiety. Believe me we have rocked up at several ice'd charging points or they simply do not work for one reason or another and until this is addressed any EV will still be a bit more of a challenge. At this point I will say the Tesla charging locations do seem a lot better and usually more than two available but again this may change when the 3 comes online. We do charge from home and usually avoid public charge points. Our i3 will fully charge in 4-5 hours on max if needed at home and 30-45 mins at a fast charge site.
If not travelling too far we can get away with just one charge a week.
